NextAlarmSX allows you to see when your next alarm will fire and more, right from the Lock Screen or Clock app

iPhone jailbreakers who use their handset as their morning wake up alarm have long turned to iOS developer Joshua Seltzer’s SleeperX jailbreak tweak for enhanced alarm functionality. But if you were still itching for more, then we’ve got some good news for you today.

Seltzer has just released a new jailbreak tweak called NextAlarmSX that works as an extension of SleeperX by helping users to keep track of upcoming alarms with helpful visual aids on the Lock Screen and in the Clock app that indicate when your next alarm will fire off.

According to the developer, who first announced NextAlarmSX in a post shared to /r/jailbreak, the tweak is intended to be the modern replacement for older tweaks like NextAlarm, TimeUntilAlarm, NappyTime, SleepyTime, and Alarmy, among others.

However, since NextAlarmSX is designed exclusively as an add-on for SleeperX (yes, you must be an existing SleeperX user to use NextAlarmSX), it includes features that are unique to this tweak compared to the older iterations of this concept, such as integrating seamlessly with SleeperX’s skipping features.

Some of the primary features of NextAlarmSX include:

  • Showing details about your next alarm on the Lock Screen underneath the Date & Time
  • Tap and hold on the Date & Time on the Lock Screen to reveal a menu with options to skip the next alarm or toggle the SleeperX skip features whenever an alarm is being shown on the Lock Screen
  • If an upcoming alarm will be skipped, then that alarm will not be shown on the Lock Screen
  • Display a countdown for each alarm in the Clock app underneath the on and off toggle
  • Tap and hold on an alarm to reveal a menu with options to skip the next alarm or toggle the SleeperX skip features
  • The countdown calculation factors in skip features that are configured for each alarm
  • Compatible with both iOS 15 and iOS 16 devices
  • Configure Lock Screen and Clock app features independently of one another

Once installed, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where users can configure a number of settings to their liking:

Things that can be done here include:

  • Configuring Lock Screen-based options:
    • Enable or disable Lock Screen configurations
    • Toggle Hold gesture on or off
    • Toggle Squeeze animation on or off
    • Toggle haptic feedback on or off
    • Choose how soon an alarm appears on your Lock Screen
    • Hide the alarm icon
    • Hide the alarm name
    • Hide the alarm fire time
    • Hide the alarm countdown
  • Configuring Clock app-based options:
    • Enable or disable Clock app configurations
    • Toggle Hold gesture on or off
    • Toggle haptic feedback on or off
    • Hide for disabled alarms
  • Reset all settings to their defaults

Since augmenting alarms is something that Apple has yet to do in an official firmware update despite the years that these kinds of jailbreak tweaks have remained available, we can certainly recommend taking advantage of the SleeperX and NextAlarmSX tweak combo to benefit in ways you didn’t even know you needed.

Personally, I love seeing a countdown timer on my Lock Screen because I’ll have some advance notice about an upcoming alarm before it ever fires, which makes the alarm less of a surprise when it does.

Those interested in giving NextAlarmSX a try can purchase it for $1.99 from the Havoc repository via their preferred package manager app. It’s also worth noting that SleeperX is required. Fortunately, those who already own SleeperX can get 50% off of NextAlarmSX, while those who don’t own SleeperX will get it for free when purchasing NextAlarmSX.
