All the slick new things you can do with Lock Screen customization on Apple’s new iOS 16 mobile operating system have left jailbreakers stuck on older firmware salivating. Of course, jailbreak developers have already ported some of those features to older firmware and devices.
But if you’re interested in even more customization than even iOS 16 brings to the table, then you might find satisfaction in the newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed Tulipe by iOS developer ElioFegh.
The purpose of Tulipe is to grant jailbreakers with oodles of Lock Screen customization that they otherwise wouldn’t have, and at no extra cost. While it’s not posing to be some kind of back-port for iOS 16, we do notice that some of the effects from iOS 16 can be at least decently replicated on older firmware, and by that we mean colors and fonts.
In fact, once installed, a preference pane makes it to the Settings app:
Here, users will have the ability to customize all of the following Lock Screen-centric features:
- Toggle Tulipe on or off on demand
- Set all of the following settings individually for both light and dark mode:
- Hide the Lock Screen time
- Hide the Lock Screen date
- Colorize the Lock Screen time
- Colorize the Lock Screen date
- Pick a custom Lock Screen time font
- Pick a custom Lock Screen date font
- Reset Lock Screen time font
- Reset Lock Screen date font
- Change the Lock Screen time format
- Change the Lock Screen date format
- View supported formatting styles
- Enable an Android 12-inspired Lock Screen time style
- Adjust the space between the two lines
- Choose between 12 or 24-hour time
- Enable and configure custom Lock Screen time size
- Enable and configure a custom Lock Screen date size
- Enable and configure a custom Lock Screen time X value
- Enable and configure a custom Lock Screen date X value
- Enable and configure a custom Lock Screen time Y value
- Enable and configure a custom Lock Screen date Y value
- Reset all options to their defaults
- Respring your device to save all changes
Obviously, you’re getting some solid options here for a free add-on, so we think it’s worth checking out if you want to do a little more with your Lock Screen’s aesthetics.
While Tulipe doesn’t provide the depth and widget features offered in iOS 16, there are options available to jailbreakers if you desire those features. But if you’re simply looking to colorize or adjust the font style of certain Lock Screen features, then this tweak will do just fine.
For those concerned about compatibility, ElioFegh notes that Tulipe will work alongside jailbreak tweaks such as Exiwall, ChromaFlow, Enchant, Velvet, and a few others.
