Frost Writer, nēdl, Cirka and other apps to check out this weekend

Welcome back to another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup! This week we have some great picks for you including a mood-inducing writing app, an AI-powered audio search engine and a finance tracker. And as always, we’ve selected a great game for you to check out.

Frost Writer

Frost Writer bills itself as a mood-inducing, story-writing app. It sets the background ambiance and the soundtrack, and then gets out of the way so you can create. There are countless themes to choose from, three focus stations to help you…focus, and the app syncs seamlessly with your desktop and other devices.

nēdl: Top News, Sports & Radio

Nedl is an AI-powered, live audio search engine that enables you to discover news and music on radio stations you didn’t know existed. We actually covered this app several years ago, but I don’t think it was anything like this. The most impressive? Search for a keyword, like ‘Dallas Cowboys,’ and it will point to radio stations talking about it.

Cirka

Here’s another ‘take control of your finances’ app. Look there are hundreds of these out there, but as I always say the best one for you is the one you’ll use. This one stands out for its sharp and clean design, its useful ‘insight’ dashboard, and security: your budget is stored on your device only and can be locked via Face or Touch ID.

Project Winter Mobile

If you’re not familiar with the PC version of Project Winter, it’s a super interesting game about collaboration and betrayal. In the mobile version you must try to survive a deadly blizzard with 7 of your teammates. But it’s not just the bad weather that can kill you–traitors are lurking in the ranks. Search for supplies, call for help and [try to] stay alive.
