Watch the trailer for the Apple TV+ documentary ‘Sidney’ about the Hollywood legend, Sidney Poitier

Earlier this year, on January 6, 2022, the Hollywood legend and activist Sidney Poitier passed away. On January 11, it was announced that Oprah Winfrey would be executive producing a brand new documentary focusing on the life and times of the icon. And now we finally have the first trailer.

The upcoming Apple TV+ documentary is directed by Reginald Hudlin (House Party), and will highlight not only the life of Poitier over the years, but also include a series of interviews from other major Hollywood folks like Denzel Washington, Robert Redford, Halle Berry, and others. There are also interviews with Lenny Kravitz and Barbra Streisand.

Sidney will tell the life’s story of Poitier as a legend within Hollywood, both as an actor and filmmaker, but also his presence within the Civil Rights Movement as well. Here’s the Apple TV+ description:

From producer Oprah Winfrey and directed by Reginald Hudlin, this revealing documentary honors the legendary Sidney Poitier and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement.

Sidney is set to premiere on Friday, September 23, 2022. Will you be checking this one out? It will also be making a limited run with a theatrical release, too.
