Welcome back for another episode of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have an earth-friendly digital journal, a speech-to-text translator and an interesting new social network. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game for you to check out.
Earthjoy: Journal & Self-Care
Here is yet another journal and self-care app that wants to help improve your mental health. Using it can create positive thought patterns that help reduce anxiety, improve your self-esteem and get better sleep. The super clean interface and the fact that they donate a % of their profits to environmental causes make Earthjoy worth checking out.
Depict :: Speech to text
If you’re looking for an app that can transcribe voice-to-text on the fly, check out Depict. I know there are a bunch of apps that do this, but Depict features on-device transcription, tagging, pinning, search, and the ability to append images, notes and locations to your recordings.
BeReal. Your friends for real.
So here is an interesting twist on social media. The hook for BeReal is that every day, at different times, you and your friends on the app will be sent an alert saying you have 2 minutes to take and post a photo. If you don’t post, you don’t get to see others photos. There are no filters, comments are limited to emoji, and sometimes there are unique photo challenges. Like I said, interesting.
Knotwords
Hooray! A fun new word puzzler that isn’t a direct ripoff of Wordle. It’s Knotwords, and although it looks like crosswords, it’s really not. Just use the displayed letters to form words, and make sure every word is valid across and down. Each puzzle has only one solution and there are thousands of different puzzles you can play through daily.
