CalcBrighter cranks your iPhone’s display brightness up to 100% when using the Calculator app

One of the things that I like about iOS is how it automatically brightens the display when showing a coupon or pass from the native Wallet app. While the intent behind this feature was to make scanning bar or QR codes easier, there are other apps where auto display brightness adjustments could be useful.

Synchronizing to this though process is iOS developer CydiaGeek, who just this week released a free jailbreak tweak called CalcBrighter that suitably cranks up your iPhone’s display brightness to 100% when the Calculator app is opened.

CalcBrighter is a good idea because it’s easy to make mathematical mistakes in the Calculator app, so ensuring unfettered visibility is a must to ensure proper input and output.

For most iPhones today, standard OLED displays work in tandem with high screen brightness to deliver rich black colors, such as those depicted in the background of the Calculator app, so this is one instance where the enhanced screen brightness delivers an improved user experience without searing your eyeballs into your sockets.

CalcBrighter doesn’t come with any options to configure, and according to CydiaGeek, it should support all jailbroken iPhones running iOS 11, 12, 13, and 14. Those interested in giving the tweak a try can download it for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager app.
