Apple TV+ shares official trailer for animated ‘Harriet the Spy’ series starring Beanie Feldstein ahead of November 19 premiere

Back in August, Apple announced that it had secured the streaming rights for a brand new animated series based on the popular book, “Harriet the Spy.” At the time, Apple was basically just confirming it was adding yet another title to its growing roster of animated shows for Apple TV+, especially those specifically made for kids. But today, we get an actual trailer.

This is the first official trailer, and it measures in at just over a minute and a half. It doesn’t give away too much — after all, Harriet’s out there trying to solve mysteries and what not. The primary focus here is not only the animation style, which certainly pops, but also the lead’s voice acting abilities, with Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart) taking up the role of Harriet.

The series will also star Emmy Award winner Jane Lynch (Glee). Today’s reveal for the official trailer also tells us that Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett wrote and also performs the original theme song for the series. (Apple also notes the original song is available from Apple Music, too.) Here’s the trailer:

From today’s announcement, here’s how Apple describes the series:

Set in 1960s New York when the original book was published, “Harriet the Spy” follows the outspoken and perpetually curious 11-year-old Harriet M. Welsch. More than anything, Harriet wants to be a writer, and in order to be a good writer, she’ll need to know everything. And to know everything means she’ll need to spy … on everyone!

The series also stars Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls), Kimberly Brooks (Voltron: Legendary Defender), Grey Griffin (Invincible), Charlie Schlatter (Diagnosis Murder), Crispin Freeman (ThunderCats Roar), and Bumper Robinson (Voltron: Legendary Defender).

Harriet the Spy is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, November 19, 2021. It looks like it will be a fun watch, especially for families looking for something to dive into.
