Back in January of 2019, word surfaced that Apple had given the go-ahead for a full series order to a “large budget sci-fi series” from the co-producer of the X-Men films, Simon Kinberg. Unfortunately, some production delays hit the show pretty hard, and it wouldn’t be until November of 2020 that production would get back into gear. At the time, though, we did get a look at the cast, with Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) set to lead.
In June of this year we finally got our first look at the upcoming series, thanks to a brief teaser trailer that only gave us some snippets of what to expect. Now, ahead of the series premiere date of October 22, 2021, for Apple TV+, the streaming service has delivered the show’s first official trailer.
And there is a lot going on! Check out the trailer just below.
Invasion tells the story from multiple points of view, from people set across the globe all while an alien invasion is taking place. Shamier Anderson (Bruised, Awake) co-starring with Neill, with Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction), Firas Nassar (Frauda), and Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2). The show will be 10 episodes in total, with three episodes dropping on the premiere date. Every Friday after that, a new episode will arrive.
The series is co-created by Simon Kinberg and David Weill (Hunters). Jakob Verbruggen (The Fall) is directing. As mentioned above, the new series will arrive on October 22, 2021.
And that’s about all Apple is willing to share about the series, at least in text form. The official trailer definitely gives us plenty to work with, though. And it looks like it will be a fun, explosive, but still character-driven story.
Are you excited to check out Invasion when it arrives next month?
