Apple TV+ shares the teaser trailer for upcoming sci-fi drama ‘Invasion’ ahead of October premiere

Simon Kinberg and David Weil have been working on an epic sci-fi drama with action elements for a long time now. At the beginning of 2020, we heard the project was eventually coming to Apple TV+. Then, later in the year, we finally got word on who would be starring in the series.

And now, a few months before it’s set to premiere on the streaming service, we finally have our first teaser trailer. Apple TV+ published the video on its official YouTube channel today. It measures in at just over two minutes, but, of course, it’s a teaser. So there’s not a whole lot to work with, as far as the finer details go.

However, the teaser does show us quite a bit in its own right. For instance, we get to see the primary cast doing their thing, including Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) in the lead role as Sheriff John Bell Tyson. Shamier Andersen plays Trevante Ward, Golshifteh Farahani plays Aneesha Malik, and Firas Nassar is playing Ahmed Malik.

It might not be immediately apparent, at least not until the hint at the very end, but this series will deal with an alien invasion of earth. So the series certainly has an apt title. Both Kinberg and Weil are writing the series, while Jakob Verbruggen is directing. The show was shot all over the globe, as we reported back in 2020:

One of Apple’s most ambitious original series to date, Invasion is designed to film in four locations on four continents: New York in the U.S. as well as UK (Manchester), Morocco and Japan. Portions of the series had been shot in New York and Morocco, and producers were prepping for the UK shoot when the coronavirus-related industry shutdown started in mid-March.

This could be another hit for Apple TV+, especially with the cast. Plus, Kinberg certainly knows how to write sci-fi action. It’s been billed as a “character-driven” series right from the get-go, though, so it’s no surprise why Apple was interested in it.

Apple TV+ subscribers will get to find out how it all pans out beginning on October 22, 2021.
