CoolStar updates Jailbreak Updater add-on for Taurine users with various improvements

Taurine users who take advantage of the Jailbreak Updater package to keep their iOS or iPadOS 14 jailbreak up to date on the fly will likely want to open the Sileo package manager and refresh their sources this morning.

Citing the details of an announcement shared by Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar in the Sileo / Taurine / Odyssey Discord channel early Tuesday morning, a new version of Jailbreak Updater is now available on the default Odyssey repository in the form of v1.0.2.

As for what’s new in Jailbreak Updater v1.0.2, CoolStar went on to say that it would improve the tool’s reliability and add support for the upcoming Taurine v1.0.8 update that the Odyssey Team plans to launch in the future:

For those unaware, the Jailbreak Update package was initially released back in April, and allows Taurine users to remotely update their jailbreak by using the jbupdate mobile terminal command.

This process upgrades all the mechanisms that make the jailbreak work, but only to an extent. This is because the Jailbreak Update package doesn’t upgrade the Taurine jailbreak app, but rather only patches your existing jailbreak. This means that rebooting your device and deploying the Taurine jailbreak again via the app prior to updating it would undo any changes made by Jailbreak Update previously.

You could simply run jbupdate again after doing this, but it’s generally a good practice to keep the Taurine jailbreak app up to date even if you use Jailbreak Update to keep your jailbreak up to date. This ensures that you’re always running the latest version of Taurine regardless of the circumstances.
