Dan Harmon and Nathan Pyle bringing ‘Strange Planet’ series to Apple TV+

Apple has found its newest series for Apple TV+. This one’s another animated series, which is based on a popular webcomic. Those led to best-selling graphic novels. And now, a TV show.

As first reported today by The Hollywood Reporter, Apple has gone ahead and given a straight-to-series order to Strange Planet. There will be 10 episodes in the first season. Nathan Pyle is the original creator of the webcomic and graphic novels. However, Dan Harmon (Community, Rick and Morty) will be credit as a co-creator for the upcoming series.

The original report says that the new show will focus on telling “profound and heartfelt stories about beings on a distant plant not unlike our own.” Amalia Lavari (Summer Camp Island) will be running the show, as well as an executive producer. Harmon and Pyle will be executive producing as well.

Animation production house ShadowMachine will be tapped to bring the webcomic to life on the screen. Apple Studios is producing.

Strange Planet, the webcomic, launched in 2019. It has since garnered plenty of attention and praise. This should be a big win for Apple TV+. Unfortunately, we’re still a ways off from this premiering on the streaming service.
