Apple TV+ limited comedy series ‘The Shrink Next Door’ gets a teaser trailer ahead of November 12 premiere

It has been over a year since we first heard about the limited dark comedy series The Shrink Next Door. Things were relatively quiet on the project since, but that changed this week. We finally have some footage to watch.

Apparently Apple TV’s official YouTube channel wanted to keep it a secret, but it released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series earlier this week. (And then re-uploaded it today.) The Shrink Next Door is billed as a limited series, a dark comedy that will tell the true story of Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf, the “therapist to the stars.” That story was originally told in 2019 through a podcast, and now it’s getting the TV treatment for Apple TV+.

Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) will be playing the role of Ike, while Will Ferrell (Anchorman) is playing Martin “Marty” Merkowitz, one of Ike’s longtime patients. During the course of the series, we’ll watch as Ike “takes over” Marty’s life. What starts as a normal doctor-patient relationship quickly devolves into something much, much worse.

The teaser trailer is light on details, of course, but that’s the way it should be. We do get to see how this will take years to tell the whole story (30 years, even), as well as the dark comedy angle. Plus, the return of Ferrell and Rudd on the same screen at the same time, something that hasn’t happened since Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

In February of this year, we reported that Sarayu Blue (No Tomorrow) had joined the cast. In addition to Blue, Ferrell, and Rudd, The Shrink Next Door will also see Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Casey Wilson (Happy Endings), and others.

The Shrink Next Door will premiere on Apple TV+ November 12. Before that date, we’ll get a proper official trailer and we’ll share that with you when it arrives.
