Apple TV+ will premiere the docuseries ‘Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson’ on July 30

Apparently one documentary announcement wasn’t enough for Apple TV+ today. The streaming service has just unveiled another, but this time with a release date.

Following the announcement of the upcoming documentary film Black and Blues: The Colorful Ballad of Louis Armstrong, Apple TV+ has also announced that another musically-inclined documentary is on the way. This one’s a series, though, and will be hosted by globally-renowned DJ Mark Ronson. The new docuseries will be called Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson.

The series comes from Academy Award-winning producer Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom), and it is set to debut on Apple’s video streaming service on Friday, July 30, 2021. Unfortunately, Apple didn’t pass along any photos from the upcoming series, nor do we have a trailer to share quite yet.

There will be six episodes in total:

Each episode of “Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson” will follow Ronson as he uncovers the untold stories behind music creation and the lengths producers and creators are willing to go to find the perfect sound. Ronson explores music’s intersection with artistry and technology in candid conversations with music legends and icons including Paul McCartney, Questlove, King Princess, Dave Grohl, Ad-Rock and Mike D from the Beastie Boys, Charli XCX and more, where he discovers the ways in which these unique tools have influenced their work.

Interestingly, there’s a bit of a twist for each episode’s end. The announcement today says that, at the end of each episode, Ronson will “create and unveil a unique piece of original music using groundbreaking technology and techniques including reverb, synth, auto-tune, drum machines, sampling and distortion”. So there will be plenty of new music by the end of the first season, too.

Think you’ll be checking this one out when it debuts later this summer?
