The Sonos Roam leaks out, a new portable speaker coming soon for $169

Sonos is not a stranger to a portable speaker. The Sonos Move had its fans, but it was also not the smallest option out there. Sonos looks to be addressing that soon with the upcoming Sonos Roam.

The speaker was just revealed in an early leak by The Verge. According to the report, the new Sonos Roam will measure in at 6.5 x 2.5 x 2.5, which makes it decidedly smaller than the Sonos Move. It puts it more in line with JBL’s Xtreme portable speaker and UE’s similar Boom speaker.

According to the report, the Sonos Roam will be priced at $169. The device is expected to be announced on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The speaker will likely go on sale in April. The device will come with a USB charging cable in the box. Sonos will offer a wireless charging dock, too, which will be priced at $49.

The speaker will be available in black or white, as you can see pictured just above.

The specifics of the upcoming speaker remain unknown. The battery size remains a mystery, and we don’t know how long it will last on a single charge while it’s not plugged in. What’s more, it’s unknown at this time whether or not it will support Apple’s AirPlay 2. It will play music either through a WiFi connection or Bluetooth.

If the Roam is ready to get unveiled later this month, we don’ have long to wait. Are you interested in the Sonos Roam based on the initial leak?
