Apple TV+ confirms May 7 premiere date for the second season of ‘Mythic Quest’

It’s been almost one year exactly since Apple TV+ renewed Mythic Quest for a second season. And now, thanks to news coming out of this year’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, we know when we can expect to start watching the second season.

Apple TV+ confirmed today, along with releasing a teaser trailer, that the second season of the hit comedy series Mythic Quest will premiere on Friday, May 7, 2021.The workplace comedy will showcase its second helping globally on Apple TV+, giving us yet another inside look at how the game developers put together the latest expansion for the video game.

The first expansion for Mythic Quest, the game within the series, was a hit. Now, following the success of Raven’s Banquet, the developers must put together an idea, and executive on that idea, for a brand new expansion. That work will be the primary focus for the next season of the show.

The series will bring back Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Ian and Charlotte Nicdao (Thor: Ragnarok) as Poppy. There will be other returning faces, but some of the folks won’t be coming back to the office following the initial quarantine. (Mythic Quest had its own special “Quarantine” episode, which it released last year.)

In any event, here’s how Apple describes the upcoming season:

With the quarantine finally over, season two of ‘Mythic Quest’ finds everyone back in the office (well, almost everyone), attempting to build upon the success of Raven’s Banquet by launching an epic new expansion, but Ian (Rob McElhenney) and the newly promoted co-creative director, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao), struggle with the game’s direction. Meanwhile, C.W. (F. Murray Abraham) reconciles some unresolved issues from his past, the testers (Ashly Burch and Imani Hakim) test the bounds of an office romance, and David (David Hornsby) loses yet another woman in his life as Jo (Jessie Ennis) leaves him to assist Brad (Danny Pudi).

And here’s the official teaser trailer for the second season:

Mythic Quest was created by McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz. Lionsgate, Ubisoft, and 3 Arts Entertainment are producing for Apple TV+.

As far as what the sub-title might be for this season, that’s up in the air. There was a rumor in 2020 that suggested the new show’s title might be Mythic Quest: Titan’s Rift, which is what the new expansion may be called in the upcoming season.

But, we’ll have to wait and see how that shakes out.

If you watched the first season, are you looking forward to the second?
