Apple has released a new Windows app for accessing saved web and app passwords in Safari through Google’s Chrome browser. Now folks who use macOS and Windows interchangeably can finally use their passwords to log in to websites.
Your Safari passwords, in sync at last
With it, you can access both your previously created Safari passwords and generate new strong passwords. Combined with Apple’s existing iCloud for windows tool, this now makes it easy to access and update your strong passwords for websites and apps on Windows.
According to Apple:
iCloud Passwords is a Chrome extension for Windows users that allows you to use the same strong Safari passwords you create on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac when visiting websites in Chrome on your Windows PC. iCloud Passwords also saves any new passwords you create in Chrome to your iCloud Keychain so that it is also available on your Apple devices.
In order for any changes made on a Windows PC to sync across your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac, and vice versa, you must enable two-step verification for your Apple ID account.

Additionally, be sure to update your iOS devices to the latest iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 software, according to a support document on Apple’s website.
How to use iCloud Passwords in Chrome
After downloading and installing the extension in Chrome, be sure to turn on the option labeled “Passwords in the iCloud” in the iCloud for Windows preference pane. With the extensions installed click its icon in Chrome’s toolbar when you visit a website where you’ve saved credentials. Doing so shall allow you to reuse any of your previously saved passwords, as well as create a new strong password for that particular website.
