Apple introduced its third-generation iPad Air with skinnier bezels, the A14 Bionic chip and other perks on September 15, but the new tablet still doesn’t have a release date. According to a well-respected leaker, that could change at today’s Apple event as both the new tablet and the iPhone 12 models are expected to debut later this week.

That’s according to avid leaker Jon Prosser.

“It seems like Apple doesn’t want the A14 in iPad Air to make it into people’s hands before iPhone 12,” he tweeted. “Looks like they’re going to be doing pre-orders and shipping iPad Air at the same time as iPhone 12.”

And according to his tweet yesterday, Apple will today unveil the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max model, in addition to the $99 HomePod mini and wireless chargers marketed under the MagSafe moniker. The AirPods Studio, the AirTags, the next regular0-sized HomePod and new Macs won’t make an appearance during the event, he tweeted.

Due to the coronavirus disruptions in global supply chains, the new iPad Air is the first device that debuted the new A14 processor, before the next iPhone. It also has another first for Apple, a Touch ID sensor built into the power button.
