Apple launches 20W USB-C Power Adapter

Apple removed the power adapter and wired EarPods from the iPhone’s box, so you may need to get a new power adapter to match the USB-C to Lightning cable coming with the iPhone 12 lineup.

For folks who do need a new power adapter, Apple has an option — and it’s not as expensive as some might have assumed it could be. The company officially launched the brand new 20W USB-C Power Adapter today following the “Hi, Speed” event. There’s nothing special about this thing, except that it has a USB-C port rather than USB-A.

This means it will pair perfectly with the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes in the box with the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The Apple 20W USB‑C Power Adapter offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office, or on the go. While the power adapter is compatible with any USB‑C-enabled device, Apple recommends pairing it with the 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation) for optimal charging performance. You can also pair it with iPhone 8 or later to take advantage of the fast-charging feature.

Of course, it’s worth noting that you’re only forking over the cash for the power adapter itself. Apple does not include the charging cable.

The new 20W USB-C Power Adapter is available to order starting today priced at $19.99. If you order today it looks like you can have it delivered as soon as Thursday, October 15, with the fastest shipping option. If you choose the free shipping route, though, then the accessory will arrive Friday, October 16.
