The iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 Pro ship without the power adapter and EarPods

Last year, the iPhone 11 shipped with a power adapter and wired EarPods in the box. However, Apple’s continued focus on the environmental impact of its business has led to a change.

You may have heard that Apple officially introduced the iPhone 12 lineup today. During the course of the announcement, the company touched on its environmental policies, and, ultimately, that it’s removing the EarPods and power adapter from the new phone boxes. This means the new boxes are actually lighter and thinner, and the removal of the accessories will have a positive impact in general.

What Apple didn’t announce during the event was that it was also removing the EarPods and power adapter from the box of the iPhone 11, too.

As of publication, you can still buy an iPhone 11 — just the iPhone 11, though. It starts at $599 for 64GB of built-in storage, and there are still six color options to choose from. Once you choose all that, and your preferred network (or unlocked variant), you’ll then scroll down and make your purchase. However, just below that continue button is the image of what’s in the box:

That’s pretty sparse!

As you’ll notice, there are some missing items compared to when the iPhone 11 launched last year. There aren’t any EarPods in the box anymore, and Apple has also removed the power adapter, too.

Per Apple:

As part of our efforts to reach our environmental goals, iPhone 11 no longer includes a power adapter or EarPods. Please use your existing Apple power adapter and headphones or buy these accessories separately.

So, there we go. All those rumors of Apple removing these accessories from the iPhone 12‘s box panned out. But not only that, the company went and removed the items from the iPhone 11’s box too, just for good measure.

What do you think of the move?
