Apple Watch’s ECG feature could soon launch for customers in South Korea.
As noted by MacRumors, ETNews reported earlier this week that Apple had obtained an approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in South Korea for the ECG app.
Apple will likely issue an update to ‌‌Apple Watch‌‌ users in the country to enable the electrocardiogram feature and irregular heart notifications on their devices, since the company has now completed every prerequisite for a Korean version.
Available on the Apple Watch Series 4 and up, ECG allows users in select territories to measure the electrical activity of their heart by resting their finger on the Digital Crown.

Apple in May of this year brought ECG functionality to Apple Watch customers in Saudi Arabia with the release of the watchOS 6.2.5 update. The country also gained support for the irregular heart rhythm notification on the wearable device.

Prior regulatory filings reveal that Apple had probably gained approval for the ECG and irregular heart rhythm notification features in Japan and Brazil as well. However, customers in those countries are still waiting for these features to be enabled.
According to the watchOS Feature Availability webpage, the Apple Watch’s ECG feature was available at the time of this writing in 37 countries.
