iOS 14 makes it easy to declutter your Home screen by hiding whole app pages from plain sight, but you can also hide a specific app rather than a whole Home screen page. Follow along with us as we show you how to hide or show individual iPhone apps on the Home screen.
The ability to hide and show individual apps on the Home screen requires an iPhone or iPod touch model compatible with iOS 14. The feature is unsupported on iPads for the time being.
Follow along with our step-by-step instructions right ahead to learn how to hide a specific app from the Home screen without permanently deleting it from your iPhone or iPod touch.
How to hide Home screen apps on iPhone
Follow these steps to hide a specific app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPod touch.
- Swipe up from the bottom edge or press the Home button to get to the Home screen.
- Long tap a desired app’s icon until a contextual menu pops up.
- Choose the option Remove App.
- Select the option Remove from Home Screen to confirm the operation.
The selected app is instantly hidden from view on your Home screen.
Again, this will simply hide the app in order to make more room on the Home screen without deleting it permanently from your device. Regardless of whether a specific app is visible on the Home screen or not, you can always open it using Siri or find it with the system-wide search function or get to it with a little help from the alphabetical app list within your App Library.
How to show Home screen apps on iPhone
To bring a hidden app back to your Home screen, swipe left until you get to the App Library at the end of your Home screen pages. You can now drag an app directly from one of the App Library folders onto the Home screen. Alternatively, tap the search field up top and scroll until you find an app in the alphabetical list, then drag and drop it on the Home screen, just like that.
And that’s how you hide iPhone apps from the iOS 14 Home screen and bring them back at will.
