New emoji coming to iOS and macOS in 2020 include a ninja, bubble tea, boomerang, and more

There are new emoji introduced on a semi-regular basis, and now we have a look at what new options will be coming to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS later this year.

Thanks to the folks over at Emojipedia, we’ve got our first look at what new emoji iOS and iPadOS will offer before the end of 2020. We’ll likely see these new options arrive with the public release of iOS 14‘s first major update. There are plenty of new choices, and a few tweaks of existing emoji. As for the new options, we’ll see the addition of a ninja, lungs, bubble tea, a beaver, a piñata, and much more. This is the first time that Apple has released a preview of the new emoji.

Here’s the list of new emoji:

  • Dodo
  • Nesting Dolls
  • Piñata
  • Tamale
  • Pinched Fingers
  • Boomerang
  • Ninja
  • Coin
  • Anatomical Heart
  • Beaver
  • Transgender Symbol
  • Bubble Tea
  • Lungs

These emoji have already been approved by Unicode alongside the Emoji 13.0 release. As is par for the course, Apple, Google, and others will create their own designs for the emoji approved in this latest batch release. So we’re getting to see what Apple will bring to its software later this year.

What do you think of the new options? How often do you think a ninja will come up?
