Tasks, Whatifi, Collected Notes, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps of the week

In this week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a sharp-looking task manager, a choose-your-own-adventure movie app, and a no-nonsense note-taking app. And as always, we’ve selected two great games for you to check out this weekend.

Tasks

If you already have a favorite todo list app or task manager, cool. You can probably skip this one. But if you don’t, Tasks looks very interesting. It has an almost-native iOS design and a ton of features, plus you can import stuff from the stock Notes and Reminders apps.

Whatifi

Whatifi is a unique app that allows you to ‘hack the story’ of movies. Just open the app, select a movie and hit play. You can invite friends if you want, or venture on solo. Every few minutes the movie asks for directions, and your choices create unique storylines and endings.

Collected Notes

A simple note-taking app with no ads, no feature creep, no tracking, no emails, no data sold—really just no nonsense altogether. It has Markdown support with real-time previews and other handy features, but as you can tell this is about as barebones as you can get.

Letter Hive

Looking to flex some brain muscles this weekend? Check out Letter Hive. It’s a difficult word game inspired by the New York Times’ Spelling Bee game. Words must have at least 4 letters, contain the center letter, and letters can be used more than once. Find as many as possible!

HopBound

For something a little more intense, here is HopBound. It’s a story-driven psychological horror game that revolves around the surreal mind of Mayumi, a recluse who must journey through an unsettling retro game to come to terms with the ghosts of her past.
