This tweak lets you download videos from the official Twitter app

If you’re a Twitter user, then you likely understand the frustration of being unable to download videos from your News Feed.

Fortunately, a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed twttrVideoDL by iOS developer Aesthyrica will let anyone with a jailbroken iPhone or iPad download News Feed videos with ease.

After installing twttrVideoDL, you can tap and hold on any video in the official Twitter app’s News Feed or from any of your Direct Message conversations and you’ll be prompted with the options shown in the screenshot example above.

The prompt, entitled “Video Downloader,” lets you choose the download quality that you’d prefer. For most instances, you might want the highest quality available, but the lower quality can be ideal for situations where you’re trying to conserve cellular data.

TwttrVideoDL certainly isn’t the first tweak to enable video downloading in the official Twitter app, but it’s worth a mention because it doesn’t cost anything and it works with the latest version of the official Twitter app.

One thing we love about twttrVideoDL is that the menu looks native to iOS, and it even pays its respects to the Twitter app’s native dark mode aesthetics. That said, it looks great and works just as good.

It’s worth noting that twttrVideoDL only works in Twitter’s official app. You won’t be able to use it with third-party Twitter clients such as TweetBot.

If you use the official Twitter app and you’re ready to upgrade its usability when perusing your News Feed or Direct Message conversations, then you can download twttrVideoDL for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices.
