Sileo v1.4.0 brings speed boosts, adds more support for Swift & native depictions

The Sileo Team released an updated version of the Sileo package manager late Tuesday evening with a plethora of improvements, officially bringing the Chimera and Electra jailbreak-centric package manager to version 1.4.0 in the process.

The Sileo Team announced the update via the official @GetSileo Twitter page, and from what we can gather, this is a particularly ‘big’ update for users and repositories alike:

Citing the change log for Sileo v1.4.0, Tuesday’s update incorporates the following changes:

Sileo v1.4.0

– Sileo is now 55% Swift

– Queue bar now shows up more reliably when the GET button is tapped

– Sileo v1.4.0 launches and refreshes sources 3x faster than v1.3.5

– Add support for converting web depictions to native (BigBoss and MacCiti supported currently)

– Enable JavaScript on web depictions

– Reduce spam/clutter from certain depictions

– Feature page now loads instantly on app launch

– Create an API for users to be able to add their own web -> native depiction scrapers

– Depiction scrapers open-sourced under the BSD license

Many of these upgrades are welcomed – especially those having to do with speed improvements and the continued upgrade to the Swift programming language.

The support for converting jailbreak tweak depictions from web-based to native is also arguably a nice touch (for those interested), but I still firmly believe that the type of depiction repositories use should be up to repository managers and not to package manager developers. Notably, Sileo plans to drop support for web-based depictions by the end of this year, but the Sileo Team is making it easier for repositories to upgrade with each new update.

If you’re using an earlier version of Sileo than v1.4.0, then we’d recommend upgrading to the latest version to enjoy all the latest speed improvements and stability enhancements. It’s a free upgrade from the Chimera or Electra repositories on their respective jailbreaks.
