Appaze lets you set brightness and volume levels on a per-app basis

If you’ve ever fancied setting custom display brightness and/or speaker volume levels for individual apps before, then it’s your lucky day. A newly-released jailbreak tweak dubbed Appaze by iOS developer AnthoPak lets you do these things with ease.

As shown in the screenshot examples above, Appaze utilizes the Home screen’s native 3D Touch menus to function. Upon pressing firmly on an app icon to reveal its menu, users will find two new additions, including “Set custom brightness” and “Set custom volume” at the top of the list.

If, like me, you use your iPhone as a multi-tool for a wide variety of things, then you’ll come to appreciate Appaze rather quickly. You might prefer a higher display brightness in specific apps over others, such as a GPS navigation app that you’ll almost always use in your car on a bright sunny day. Likewise, you might prefer near-full volume when using a video player app such as YouTube.

Appaze makes customizations like these possible, ensuring the optimal app usage conditions from the moment you launch the app.

Upon installing Appaze, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Appaze on or off on demand
  • Hide or show the volume option in the 3D Touch menus
  • Hide or show the brightness option in the 3D Touch menus
  • Show the brightness and volume options before anything else in the 3D Touch menus
  • Restore default volume levels on app exit
  • Restore default brightness levels on app exit
  • Hide or show the volume HUD when adjusting
  • Hide or show the brightness HUD when adjusting

You’ll want to respring your device after making changes to Appaze’s preference pane to ensure they take effect.

If you like what Appaze brings to the table, then you can download it for $0.99 from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices with 3D Touch capabilities, and also plays nicely with dark mode tweaks such as Noctis.
