Apple seeds second beta of tvOS 12.4 and watchOS 5.3 to developers

While iOS gets the lion’s share of attention when it comes to betas, Apple is not sleeping on its other big operating systems, too. The company is moving forward with developer betas for tvOS and watchOS.

Apple on Tuesday officially seeded the second beta of tvOS 12.4 and watchOS 5.3 to developers. Each update is free, and available for supported devices used by registered developers. At the time of publication, there have not been any major discoveries made as far as new features go in the previous beta seeds. However, it is possible that Apple adds new elements to the latest developer beta.

If that is the case, we will update this post accordingly. And if you try the latest beta and discover any new features or other changes, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

To update to the latest beta of tvOS 12.4, developers simply need to download the new software on their fourth- or fifth-generation set-top box via a profile installed through Xcode. Next, to update the latest beta for watchOS 5.3, the Apple Watch must have at least 50% battery life, be connected to the charger, and also be connected and within range of the iPhone. With those requirements met, open the Watch app, select General –> Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions.

Apple will likely follow up with at least one more developer beta before the company launches these latest versions of each operating system to the public later this year.

Do you ever try out beta software on your personal device? Or do you wait for any and all new features until the public launch of the software arrives?
