Here are the best HomeKit door locks you can purchase. Use these to protect your home, property, and loved ones, regardless of where you are in the world.
Best HomeKit door locks
Door locks are one of the fastest growing product lines that support Apple HomeKit. With this integration, you control the doors in your home using your iPhone from anywhere in the world. Better still, in many cases, you can see who’s at your home without even opening the door.
August Smart Lock Pro
Perhaps the best HomeKit door locks on the list (and the one in my home) is the August Smart Lock Pro. Featuring the ability to control and monitor your door from anywhere, the Pro allows you to lock/unlock your door, control keyless access, and keep track of who comes and goes. With DoorSense, the system can even let you know if your door is securely closed and locked.
Offering relatively simple DIY installation, the August Smart Lock Pro works with your existing lock and keys. It’s also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Reagle Smart Deadbolt Lock
This deadbolt offers several ways to get into your home. You can of course use a key, but you can also use the integrated keypad, or any of your Apple devices with the HomeKit app.
This is actually the one Sebastien has in his house, and he confirms the installation is dead simple, taking him less than 15 minutes and just a screwdriver.
The accompanying app isn’t great, but it’s not necessary past the initial installation since most of everything can be done using Siri, or simply using the HomeKit app. Where the Reagle app will be needed is to generate access keys for various users, or to generate one-time access codes (perfect for the maid). All in all, a great smart lock at a decent price.
Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt
With this deadbolt, you can enter an access code on the touchscreen to lock/unlock your door. Pair with your smartphone over Bluetooth for more convenient access. Share access with trusted friends and family with just a few taps.
When you add the Schlage Sense Wi-Fi Adapter, you can lock/unlock your Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt from anywhere using the Schlage app. Available in different styles to match your home.
Danalock V3 Smart Lock
The Danalock V3 is a wireless smart lock that lets you control access to your home with your smartphone, allowing you to ditch your physical keys once and for all. With this product, you can create an unlimited number of digital keys for your family members, friends, guests, or helpers such as a housekeeper or contractor.
The lock is globally compatible and fits the three most common types of cylinders: oval lock Scandi cylinders, drop-shaped Euro cylinders, and U.S. deadbolt locks.
Available in multiple styles and prices at Danalock
Kwikset Premis Touchscreen Smart Lock
This touchscreen smart lock is fully compatible with Apple HomeKit and offers remote access to monitor, lock, and unlock, from anywhere in the world. With Siri voice control, you can check lock history with ease.
Available in various finishes, the Kwikset Premis is not compatible with Android-based devices.
If you’re looking for a keyless option, this one from Yale might be the way to go. The lock features a backlit keypad entry for inputting an unlock/lock code, which also boasts weather resistance so even if it’s pounded by rain it will keep working as you’d expect. It runs on four AA batteries, and Yale says it will keep running for a year before the batteries need to be replaced.
With the Yale app, you can easily unlock and lock the deadbolt as well, and this gives you the ability to share access remotely as well. The lock will automatically unlock when you walk up to it while you have your phone in your pocket or in your hand, and with HomeKit support you can use Siri to unlock the deadbolt with just your voice. (Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa support also offered in this regard.)
The Yale Assure Lock is available now in multiple colors from Amazon.
