How to set up and use the Siri watch face on your Apple Watch

Learn everything there is to know about using the Siri watch face on your Apple Watch to automatically get timely and helpful information on your wrist.

Apple Watch Siri watch face

When it first launched, Apple advertised the Siri watch face as the “Smartest. Watch Face. Ever.”

The Siri watch face uses machine learning to individualize the content it shows. This allows it to proactively suggest relevant content and shortcuts based on what you’re doing over time.

For example, you might see a “Drive Home Playlist” pop up each day just as you leave work. Near your favorite store? The Apple Watch Siri face might suggest a quick shopping trip. It could also alert you when there’s traffic ahead. It can show your next appointment, display the sunset time, inform you about your bedtime, remind you to do a breathing exercise for a minute, and more.

Set up the Siri watch face

You can do it from your Apple Watch as well as the Watch app on your iPhone. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will use the big iPhone screen.

1) Open the Watch app on your companion iPhone and tap Face Gallery.

2) Scroll down to the Siri section and tap the watch face you see there.

3) Now you can customize its look and functionality:

  • Color: You can stay with the default gradient colors that matches Siri’s icon. Alternatively, if you are like me, you can opt for the gray look.
  • Complications: Siri watch face supports two complications. By default, the top left complication shows the Siri button, and tapping it invokes Siri. The top right one displays today’s date. You can tap Top Left or Top Right and pick another complication of your choice. Since Raise to Speak makes it pretty easy to trigger Siri, I have set the top left complication to display the battery percentage.

4) Once you have finished customizing, tap the ADD button from the top of the screen to add the Siri watch face to your Apple Watch and set it as the current watch face.

Rotate the Digital Crown to go through all the cards which are bundled in categories such as All Day, Up Next, and Tomorrow. Press the Digital Crown or tap the time indicator pill from the top right corner of the screen to return to the Siri watch face.

Third-party app support for Siri watch face

Adding third-party apps naturally makes the experience more personalized, assuming your favorite app decides to play nice with the face. At one point, Siri watch face supported third-party apps, and you could customize them in the Watch app, as shown in the screenshots below.
