I’ve become addicted to this game, and so will you

Circlestances

I’m not much of a gamer, but every once in a while, I come across a little gem that gets me hooked for a short period of time. Circlestances is one of those games.

The concept of the game is pretty simple. Two circles are moving in random directions on your screen. Your goal is to tap the screen every time they overlap. The more they overlap, the more you score. Sounds too simple?

Every time you tap the screen, the circles will change direction and move faster. Be careful not to tap the screen when the circles aren’t overlapping, or else it’s game over.

Circlestances comes with four different modes. The default is the 30 seconds mode in which you must score as many points as possible in 30 seconds. Other modes (endless, time, and hardcore), can be unlocked by scoring tons of points (credits), watching video ads, or simply via in-app purchases). I am personally stuck on the 30 seconds mode and haven’t scored more than 2420 points.

I feel like the ways to unlock other modes are very clever, and even though you have to watch an ad every once in a while, the game isn’t pushing in-app purchases in your face, something I particularly appreciate.

At that point, I don’t care much for other modes. I really like this 30 seconds mode which seems perfect to waste time during a TV commercial break, or while waiting for your fancy espresso drink at the coffee shop.

Because that’s exactly what makes this game so great in my opinion. It’s not the type of game you play on a Friday night. It’s the kind of game you pick up and play when you have a few seconds or a few minutes to kill.

Circlestances is free in the App Store. Go grab it, play with it, and let me know what you think!
