Vimo lets you add animated stickers to your videos

Vimo 1

I have a love affair with chat stickers. I don’t know why. I feel like a preteen whenever I use them, but I can’t help myself. I giggle every time I send a sticker of a crying cat or pooping bunny.

Vimo takes chat stickers a step further by turning them into animations that you can overlay on your video. You can even edit them so they look like they are interacting with your subject.

The app includes four free themed sticker packs, Emotion, Sea, Garden, and Travel. However, there are nine more packs that can be purchased for $0.99 each or unlocked for a full purchase price of $4.99.

You can add videos from your camera roll or record a clip right from within the app. After adding a video, select a sticker to lay it over the clip. Then, tap the finger button to move the sticker while the video is playing.

The video is slowed down to make movement easier. You can slow it even further or speed it up by tapping the speed buttons in the editing screen. While the video is playing, you can drag the sticker around to make it move. If you have cat ears on you friend, you can keep them on her head while she walks around. If you add bubbles to you cat, drag the sticker around on the screen to make the bubbles follow it.

You can change the color of a sticker, increase or decrease the size, or flip its direction before beginning the moving sticker process. Once in edit mode, the only thing you can do is change the size. You can’t flip the sticker around while it is moving, so if you want to drag something back and forth across the screen, it is backward for one direction.

The free app includes the ability to add two stickers to one video. However, for $0.99, you can unlock unlimited stickers. The video includes a “Vimo” watermark in the bottom right corner, but you can also remove the watermark for $0.99. Obviously, the best bang for your buck is to unlock all of the features for $4.99. You will, at least, want unlimited stickers and to remove the watermark.

Vimo is available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch for free. You can download it in the App Store today.
