Olloclip introduces new telephoto lens for iPhone

Olloclip-Telephoto

In the world of iPhone photography accessories, there’s perhaps no name more recognized than Olloclip. The company produces a popular 3-in-1 clip-on camera lens system for Apple’s handset that includes macro, fisheye and a wide-angle lenses.

And today, they introduced a new telephoto lens, bringing the Olloclip line full circle. It’s available in two flavors—one that works with the iPhone 5, and one that works the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the last two generations of the iPod touch…

The folks over at dpreview were given the chance to try out the lens, and they posted before and after photos.

The telephoto lens is made of a high-quality aluminum body and precision ground glass optics. And it also comes with a circular polarization lens (CPL) that, in effect, can block unwanted light reflections and make colors appear much more accurate.

Additionally, the CPL can be used by itself, or with Olloclip’s other iPhone lens kits. The developers say they don’t plan to sell it by itself, but it’s worth noting that it can cut down on haze—a problem widely documented in the early days of the iPhone 5.

The telephoto lens kit, which comes with the telephoto lens, step down filter adapter, circular polarizing filter and cap will be available next month for $100. And for more information on iPhone photography, be sure to check out our iPhoneography page.
