EU takes issue with Motorola’s patent abuse against Apple

In a preliminary ruling, the European Commission on Monday found that Motorola Mobility had abused its dominance in wireless communications patents in seeking an injunction against Apple in Germany. The finding opens the door to a potential antitrust charges to be filed against Google. The EU in its formal statement of objections informed the Google-owned smartphone maker of its allegations that it had leveraged its market position and abused standards-essential patents in order to enforce an injunction against Apple...

Reliable parts supplier confirms budget iPhone

We usually don't put our faith in Apple rumors originating from Asian part suppliers who often just make stuff up in the hope of banking on free press to promote their business. But ETrade Supply is different. The parts and repair shop last year leaked accurate photos of the iPad mini display panel, as well as the iPhone 5 front and back panel, to name just a few.

This points to ETrade Supply having some solid sources in the Apple supply chain and probably inside Foxconn, Apple's favorite contract manufacturer. In a blog post published Monday, the supplier claimed its was able to confirm with its sources that Apple indeed will be releasing lower-end iPhone models this year...

NPD DisplaySearch sees two Retina iPad minis

NPD DisplaySearch knows its display supply chain inside out and while they may not be the most accurate source of Apple rumors, more often than not their predictions have proved pretty accurate. In a report filed yesterday, DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim was quoted as saying that Apple is readying not one, but two Retina-capable iPad mini models, "one in the second half of this year, then one in the first quarter of 2014"...

Good news Photo Organizer fans. The developer lordscotland has listened to your feedback, and has subsequently posted an update to the app with new features, sort options and more. Actually, he rolled the update into a whole new tweak.

The original Photo Organizer, which was released back in February, is a simple tweak that allows you to copy, delete and rearrange pictures in the stock Photos app. And the Pro version is exactly like that, but with a few more options...

A couple days ago, we gave you a preview of Luna, a new jailbreak tweak that lets you turn Do Not Disturb on and off, directly from the Lock screen or from Notification Center with a simple pull down gesture. Additionally, when your device is unlocked, Luna will display notifications with non intrusive banners.

Luna, which was born from a concept by Sentry and developed by Ryan Petrich, is now available in Cydia for two bucks...

Velox updated with new activation method and several bug fixes

Velox, arguably one of this year's most highly anticipated jailbreak tweaks, finally landed in Cydia this weekend after what seemed like several weeks of waiting. Initial feedback for the tweak has been mostly praise, but there have been some scattered reports of bugs.

Of course, bugs are typical in first-version software releases, as are the bug-squashing '0.1' updates that follow them. And today, Velox has received its 0.1 update that includes a new, double-tap activation method, and a handful of other improvements and bug fixes...
