Sn0wbreeze updated with support for iOS 6.1.2

It's been a busy weekend for jailbreak tool updates. Last night, the evad3rs released a new version of the evasi0n untether package in Cydia, and shortly after that they posted evasi0n 1.5.

Windows users on older iOS devices might be happy to know that iH8sn0w has updated his Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool as well. It now supports iOS 6.1.2, and features a handful of bug fixes...

TypeStatus adds an iMessage ‘now typing’ indicator to the status bar

TypeStatus is a new jailbreak tweak that has a special place in my heart. Why? Well, it's because for once I can claim some sort of credit for its creation. A couple of weeks ago, I suggested, just on a whim, that someone create a tweak that allows you to see the "now typing" indicator for iMessages in the status bar.

A few hours later, I was informed that the tweak was being worked on, and not long after that, I had a working copy in my inbox. Folks, this is what makes the jailbreak community so special. It's filled with uber-talented developers who have a knack for creating great things, and bringing ideas to life.

Truth to be told, I never expected anyone to take my request and bring it to fruition, but I'm happy that someone did. @thekirbylover of Hashbang Productions is the one I have to thank for making it a reality. I'd like to say I can take credit for this tweak, but the majority of the credit goes out to the mind behind the code. Check out my hands-on video preview of TypeStatus inside.

evasi0n updated to improve boot-up time of jailbroken devices

A few hours ago we reported that the evasi0n untether package available in Cydia had been updated to version 0.4, fixing some problems a few users experienced during the boot-up of their device.

Just like the companion Cydia package, the desktop version of the evasi0n jailbreak has been updated to improve the boot-up time of some iOS devices jailbroken with the tool...

‘Unveil’ allows you to view banner notifications while using Siri

You probably haven't noticed it personally, but did you know that banner notifications are supressed while the Siri interface is open? Well, to be honest, I didn't either, until I saw this tweak pop-up in Cydia.

The premise behind Unveil is simple, allow banner notifications to be displayed within the Siri interface. If you're someone who absolutely must have access to banner notifications at all times, then Unveil is something you should consider using.

evasi0n updated to version 0.4 in Cydia

If you've been experiencing booting problems with your jailbroken iDevice, then a new update to the evasi0n 6.x Untether may be of sincere interest to you. evasi0n Untether version 0.4-1 was recently released in Cydia, and it brings with it fixes to booting problems that were happening during some reboots.

If you've been experiencing booting issues, then you should head over to Cydia right now, and upgrade your evasi0n Untether package.

AssistantEnhancer picks up where Siri left off

If you're looking for a way to get more out of Siri, then a tweak like AssistantLove will most likely be of interest to you. That tweak, which was just recently updated to support iOS 6, allows you to play Spotify music using Siri, and integrates navigation and GPS features too.

Well, as of this week, there's another option that you should consider trying, and it treads on much of the ground previously cultivated by AssistantLove. This new tweak, aptly entitled AssistantEnhancer, brings Spotify integration, along with a host of other features.

If the ability to search Amazon, find local events, search the App Store, and play Pandora sounds like something you'd like Siri to do for you, then you certainly want to check out AssistantEnhancer. It does all of the aforementioned, and much, much more. Take a look at our video walkthrough inside for a rundown of some of the tweak's most outstanding features.

Unpower tweak alerts you when your device gets unplugged

Have you ever noticed that, by default, your iPhone and iPad give you an audible alert when you plug them in, but not when you unplug them? Why is that? It seems like it would serve a similar purpose--letting you know if your device is plugged in or not.

Well whatever the reason is, it's not something you have to worry about anymore. At least, not if you're jailbroken. There's a new tweak out in Cydia this week called 'Unpower,' and its one function in life is to alert you when your device gets unplugged...

Taking Zagg headphones head to head

I am a big fan of quality headphones. Listening to music is completely different when you have a solid pair of well crafted speakers pumping beats directly to your ear drum. Of course my audiologist, Dr. Manning, advises me to keep the roar to a minimum, but I just cannot help rocking. Thus, having crisp sound and solid bass are important to the perfect audio experience.

Today, I take a run at two pair of ZAGG headphones and give a general consumer perspective on their pros and cons. As a disclaimer, I am no audiophile, but I do have particularly refined preferences in the headphone world and continually seek the perfect set of headphones...

Google said to be working on streaming music service

This is pretty interesting. Hot on the heels of rumors that Apple is looking to get into the streaming music space, a new report popped up late last night alleging that Google too is working on a service of its own.

Citing 'people familiar with the matter,' The Wall Street Journal is claiming that the search giant's Android unit has been negotiating with music companies to start a paid subscription music streaming service...

New iPad 5 case matches up with rumored mini design

MiniSuit, an accessory manufacturer, has sent out photos tonight of a new case for the upcoming fifth-gen iPad. It says it created the case based on specifications received from, what it believes to be, a reliable source.

Looking at the cover, it certainly seems to match up with what our expectations are thus far for Apple's next tablet. The company is reportedly redesigning the slate this year, with traits pulled from the iPad mini...

NYPD creates ‘iTheft’ unit for catching iPhone and iPad thieves

We've reported on a number of stolen iPhone and iPad cases on iDB over the years. Apple's gadgets are both popular and expensive, making them the perfect targets for thieves looking for a quick score.

But those thieves better watch out if they ever find themselves on the streets of New York. The city's police department has assigned a team of cops to work directly with Apple to put a stop to these thefts...
