Apple Set for Legal Battle over iBook Piracy in China

As if Apple's lawyers don't have enough on their plate right now, it appears that they will soon be needing to hop on a plane and head to China, with a new legal bruhaha brewing.

Apple is now being asked for $1.88 million dollars, with a collection of Chinese authors claiming that 37 of their works are being distributed illegally on the iBookstore – Apple's Kindle competitor.

As if to add insult to injury, Apple has been taking its customary 30% of all sales in the store, effectively receiving money thanks to pirated materials...

iOS Developer Bypasses the App Store and Sells Games on eBay

If there was ever any proof needed that the App Store is not always laced with gold and rainbows, then this is surely it!

Disappointed with the attention that two of its games were receiving, both the paid for and free versions of Cannon Collision, LLLo Inc. has made the source code and all associated graphics available via auction using the ever-popular eBay.

With the paid-for version of Cannon Collision currently retailing for a dollar, and the free version sporting ads, if anyone is looking to get their feet wet in the world of iOS games development, then this might be a place to start.

Gametel Gamepad Now Compatible With iOS Devices

Considering how popular iOS has become as a mobile gaming platform, you would think that the market for iOS gaming accessories would be huge, but it's really not. The iOS gaming peripheral space is actually quite small.

But it is slowly growing, thanks to notable accessories like the iCade, the iControlPad, and now the Gametel Gamepad. The once Android-only wireless controller is all set to make its iOS debut at the Consumer Electronics Show next week...

While this tip may seem a little trivial, it will most likely solve an annoyance that many of us have experienced when surfing the web on the iPad or iPhone.

Instagram Gets Friendly With Facebook

One of my favorite social networks, Instagram, just got a whole lot more friendly with Facebook. Photos that you now send from Instagram on your iPhone to Facebook will be automatically added to a folder called "Instagram Photos" in their full size.

Not only will your Instagrams appear full size on your Timeline in all of their retro glory, but every pic is consolidated into one helpful photo album for reference.

iPhone 4S Still Top-Seller for Sprint, Verizon and AT&T During December

December was another great month for iPhone sales, according to research by Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley and his crack team of number crunchers, with all three major US carriers seeing the new iPhone 4S top their sales charts.

Two months after its initial release on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon, the iPhone 4S is still the best-seller for all three of the carriers that offer the handset in the United States, with two Android phones helping make up the top three, the Samsung Galaxy S II and the newer Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Less surprisingly, the top-selling tablet device in the United States was the iPad 2, with the cheaper Amazon Kindle Fire being its nearest competitor. We expect the tablet landscape to alter during 2012 however, with more Android and Windows 8 machines offering more competition for Apple's device...

Ipsum is a jailbreak tweak that makes it ridiculously simple to clear iOS 5's Lock screen notifications.

A single swipe of the notification will work as normal — unlock the phone and go to the app that created the notification. With Ipsum installed, all it takes is a double swipe of the Lock screen notification to get rid of it...

Mail More Photos: Attach More Than 5 Photos to an Email

iOS is a bit on the limited side when it comes to sending a multitude of emails from the Camera Roll. Apple has limited users to just 5 photo attachments if users want to use the built in email sharing option.

Fortunately, jailbreaking exists to get rid of such limitations. Check inside for a video walkthrough of Mail More Photos, a tweak that allows one to send a seemingly infinite amount of photos via email...

iPhone Usage Dropped Almost 5% During December

Despite what is sure to be a record-breaking month for Apple's iPhone sales, it appears that the handset's usage share may have actually fallen by almost 5%, if new figures are to be believed.

Advertising network Chikita has released data based on the number of ad impressions across its network while highlighting the top smartphone makers in the arena, with the iPhone seeing a reduction in its share during December.

The big gains came from Android-loving HTC and Samsung during the same period...

Analysts Predict Apple Sold 35 Million iPhones Over the Holidays

After a disappointing [define disappointing] third quarter last year, Apple's CEO Tim Cook made one of the boldest projections in the company's history: Apple is going to sell 30 million iPhones and hit $37 billion in revenue in Q4 of 2011.

To put these numbers in perspective, Apple only sold 17 million iPhones in Q3 of last year, hitting just $28.3 billion in revenue. So you can see why some folks were taken a back by Cook's predictions. But hey, anything can happen, right?
