Meet the Fourth US Carrier for the iPhone 4S

It's just been announced that the iPhone 4S will be available on a fourth US carrier, and no, it's not T-Mobile. Oddly enough, C Spire Wireless, formerly known as Cellular South, will be launching Apple's next smartphone soon.

C Spire will join AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint as an iPhone partner in the US. T-Mobile remains left out in the cold...

Apple: iPhone Rumors Negatively Affect Our Sales

Apple held a conference call yesterday, shortly after announcing its Q4 financial results.

The results made interesting reading, with Apple falling just short of the expected revenue figure of $29.41 billion, making a not-inconsiderable $28.3 billion instead.

The iPhone sold just 17.1 million units against the expected 22 million. But why such a difference between the two numbers, when the iPhone usually sells so strongly? According to Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer, the rumor mill is to blame...

Apple Launches “Remembering Steve” Tribute Page

Ever since the passing of Steve Jobs on October 5, Apple has been asking people to email their personal memories and favorite quotes of the Apple co-founder to rememberingsteve@apple.com. We didn't really know at the time what Apple intended to do with the emails once they received them, but the company has now launched a "Remembering Steve" tribute page, containing the messages they received.

Housed at apple.com/SteveJobs, the webpage features a scrolling list of the messages sent in by Apple fans and customers, along with a short introduction urging people to continue adding to the messages already received...

How iCloud Syncing Integrates With iWork [Video]

Caught up in all of the hoopla about the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 was the release of an updated iWork suite for iOS.

The new iWork features iCloud syncing compatibility, a feature that has been in beta for months, but was finally released to the public last week.

Inside, we showcase iWork's new cloud syncing functionality, which allows you to sync documents on your iPod touch, iPad, iPhone, and even your Mac in limited fashion...

Animated History of How the iPhone Came to Be

The iPhone is easily the most recognized smartphone in the world. As most of you know, the iPhone 4S is well on its way to becoming the fastest selling consumer device in history. Not bad for only being in the business for 4 years.

With that in mind, MacRumors points to an interesting video by the folks over at CNET UK. The clip takes a look at Apple's popular handset, and all of the people and technology that have been involved in making it what it is today...

‘BatteryCenter’ And ‘PowerCenter Pro’ Juice Up Notification Center

Normally, I don't like to combine coverage of multiple jailbreak tweaks in a single post, but this go 'round, it was definitely appropriate.

BatteryCenter is a free iOS 5 Notification Center widget, which brings battery stats directly to iOS 5's convenient pull down menu. PowerCenter Pro is the upgraded version of BatteryCenter, and it features additional options not found in its free version.

Both widgets are created by the same developer, and can be downloaded from Cydia. How do they stack up? Check inside for the video lowdown of each tweak...

IntelliScreenX Looks Like the Must-Have Jailbreak App for iOS 5

If you've been jailbreaking for a while, you'll likely recognize the name Intelliborn. The group is responsible for popular jailbreak utilities like MyWi and My3G. Now the talented developers have a new jailbreak tweak in the oven for iOS 5 — and it's awesome.

The utility is called IntelliScreenX, and it sits in the new Notification Center found in the latest iOS update. No, it's not simply a widget. This could take the place of 10 widgets (and so much more). And we just happen to have a video of it in action...

List of iOS 5 Compatible Jailbreak Tweaks

With a jailbreak available for iOS 5, many of you have been asking us to publish a list of jailbreak tweaks that are compatible with Apple's latest mobile operating system.

So, instead of reinventing the wheel, we dug around the internet and found a user-generated list of jailbreak apps and tweaks that do work with iOS 5...

You can also edit the list via Google Docs, if necessary.

Why Apple Bought Siri

Jon Pielak is the former lead iPhone developer for Siri, the voice technology that Apple has implemented in the iPhone 4S. Pielak helped start the Siri project back in 2008.

Some may have forgotten that Siri actually started as a popular App Store app for the iPhone. In a recent blog post, Siri's former lead developer talks about why Apple bought Siri, what makes Siri special, the what's on the horizon for the most advanced consumer voice technology on earth...

Apple Reports Record Quarter, Despite Missing the Street’s Expectations

It's that time again, Apple has posted its earnings for Q4 just ahead of the company's quarterly earnings call. Apple set multiple records in the 4th quarter of the 2011 fiscal year, including quarterly revenue, and quarterly net profit.

But the Cupertino company's report doesn't come without some bad news. For the first time since 2002, Apple missed Wall Street's projected earnings, selling less iPhones and iPods than analysts expected. And shareholders are showing their disappointment...

Patent Reveals Apple was Working on an iPhone Nano

One of the most consistent iPhone rumors we've been hearing over the past few years has been that the Cupertino company is working on a 'nano' version of its popular smartphone.

Obviously, nothing has ever materialized, but for some reason the iPhone Nano always seems to surface in the rumor run-up right before Apple releases a new handset. But why? The folks over at PatentlyApple might have the answer...

‘FavoriteContacts’ Adds Your Favorites to Notification Center

The Notification Center jailbreak widgets are really starting to pick up steam as of late, and that means that there's a ton of new and innovative tweaks for us to cover.

The latest tweak, is called FavoriteContacts, and as one might imagine, it pulls in all of your favorites from your Phone app. Doing so, allows you to initiate a call, text, or email right from the convenience of iOS 5's Notification Center.

We've gone hands-on with FavoriteContacts, and we're happy to report that it rocks. Check inside for the video walkthrough, and for a chance to win one of five (5) free copies...
