The Most Overpriced iPhone Dock Ever

I once bought a pair of retro Air Jordan that were strikingly ugly but nonetheless a one of kind product. I thought by owning these I was cool. Needless to say I was 16 years old.

Touch My iPhone highlights a new iPhone dock that may earn bonus points for creativity but puts my old tennis shoes to shame. The iRetrophone Skyliner mimics your grandmother's old stationary phone (the handset on the dock actually works) and offers the following description...

Australia is the Latest Victim of Apple’s iPhone Shortage Game

On launch day of the iPhone 4 I was 26th in line at the Mall of America. I arrived at 2 in the morning and by the time Apple opened their doors there were easily over 300 people waiting behind me. I know that everyone in line that day didn't go home with the new iPhone. It was blissfully maddening.

The latest shortage reports are coming out of Australia where TUAW shows the country's carriers are feeling the heat from a high demand, low supply market. With cell carriers down under getting new shipments each week, and the Apple stores in the US each day, I feel like the company purposely shorthands their retailers and inadvertently causes chaos...

Is T-Mobile Getting the iPhone 3GS?

The tweet says it all. The update was posted by Chris Anderson, editor of Wired. Perhaps he is baiting us but nevertheless it's the first rumor of its kind so what the heck.

Apparently Chris was told by a T-Mobile manager that the iPhone 3GS would be coming to the carrier. Why the company would be getting the year old model of the iPhone instead of the current device is beyond me. I guess that's why they call it a rumor.

Thoughts?

No iOS 4.1 Jailbreak from Comex?

That's an interesting tweet that Comex sent out earlier today in reply to someone offering him to donate money when he releases a jailbreak for iOS 4.1. While we were set to believe that Comex would be on top of the iOS 4.1 jailbreak, it seems that we should hold our excitement.

I do believe Comex is working on a 4.1 jailbreak. And if he's not, the tone of his tweet might suggest that someone else has a potential exploit for iOS 4.1 and that indeed the jailbreak will not come from him.

Apple Game Center Not Compatible With the iPhone 3G

Well screw you if you have an iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G! Apple will not support your device for Game Center, the social gaming network that will ship with iOS 4.1 tomorrow.

There were rumors of Game Centers not making it to the iPhone 3G, but Apple has made things official on their website.

AppShopper App Helps You Find Deals on iPhone Applications

The iPhone App Store has had over 300,000 entries accepted in its short lived history while almost 250,000 are currently available for download. I often find myself asking how I can find an obscure application or when a popular entry might go on sale. Enter AppShopper.

Gizmodo recently reported that the popular website now has a native app for the iPhone that will track when apps go on sale and announce the arrival of recently added entries. Certainly this beats Apple's featured apps tab and the best part about it is, you guessed it, it's free...

How to Copy Your Contacts From Your iPhone to a SIM Card

If for one reason or another you want to copy your iPhone contacts from your phone to your SIM card, you're pretty much screwed because Apple doesn't let you do that easily.

When there's a will, there's a jailbreak app! It's called SIManager and it will help you move your contacts from iPhone to SIM.

SIManager is available on Cydia for free from the iSpazio repo. Simply download the app and launch it to get started...

Nike Makes Its iPhone App More Accessible

Running is a lot of work. That's why the previous version of the Nike+ iPod was a bit of a hassle since you had to have special equipment just to participate in the experience. Apparently Nike agreed.

Now in the App Store is an app called Nike+ GPS which is a stand alone version of the aforementioned application. The $2 selection which you can download here utilizes the iPhone's accelerometer and GPS capabilities (must be running iOS 3.1 or higher), which ditches the need for any additional adapters that it once required...

R Type: My New Favorite iPhone Game

I'm not big on games. I don't have the time or the patience to play, but from time to time I find a game that gets me stuck to my iPhone and makes my carpal tunnel even worse. My latest addiction: R Type, by DotEmu SAS in partnership with EA Games.

The reason why I like this game so much is because I used to play it on my Comodore 64 when I was a kid. No need to tell you that lots of memories resurfaced as I went through the various levels...

New Mod Brings a Physical Keyboard to the iPhone 4

Excuse me if my biased opinion comes out for the following mod. I loathe slider keyboards as much as I dislike any smartphone feature. That being said, accessory company Nuu unveiled a concept that adds a physical keyboard to the iPhone 4.

Nuu showed off the idea in Berlin and it is said to be hitting the market around the holidays. ModMyI has more shots of the product that works using an adjustable sliding hinge. Yes, a hinge on our beautiful phone...

Australian Photographers Host a Photo Contest Exclusively for the iPhone 4

I wondered when a contest would emerge that featured the iPhone 4, which I figured would be focused on films. Turns out I was wrong in sense that the Australian Commercial and Media Photographers held a competition for photos taken on the new phone.

TUAW reports that the only other rule was that the pictures must be took using Hipstamatic, an App Store entry that offers old styles of lenses and film emulators. Any other manipulation and they'd bounce you down to New Zealand to box a kangaroo...
