Why is Web Browsing Declining on the iPhone?

When the iPhone was introduced back in 2007 Steve Jobs made it known that he thought the phone's best feature was the ability to browse the internet in its entirety. To his credit it was the first device to even come close. As Jobs' idol, Bob Dylan sang, "The times they are a changing".

The Bango Blog offers some insight regarding their newest web browsing statistics that show a decline in web traffic as it relates to content viewed from the iPhone. Should the decline be attributed to the influx in platforms that offer the same style of browsing? Some would argue that systems like Android offer a more comprehensive experience strictly due to their support of Flash...

Find My iPhone Leads Police to Another Stupid Criminal

What is it lately with stupid criminals and the iPhone? This week alone iDB reported that a man left his device at the scene of robbery and another instance of a woman texting about her crimes from her beloved phone.

Today's entry comes from my home state of Wisconsin. Madison police report that 19 year old Jamal Jackson heisted two iPhones from the local West Town Mall in the capital city. Both phones were armed with Apple's MobileMe feature of Find My iPhone which led Jackson to be tracked to a nearby PDQ convenience store where he apparently stopped his van to gas up...

A Nice Tweak for the iPhone iPod App

There's been quite a few interesting jailbreak mods lately. MultiMusicInfo is another one of those simple, yet very nice jailbreak tweaks for iPhone. MultiMusicInfo shows you the information of the song that's playing on your iPod app in the "now playing" bar of the app switcher.

It adds the artist name, the album and the title of the song that's playing. It even replaces the iPod icon with the album cover if available. Tapping the album cover will still behave like the iPod icon and take you to the iPod app.

Gridlock Lets You Arrange Your iPhone Apps Icons Any Way You Want

Ever feel frustrated that you can't arrange your iPhone apps icons the way you want on your springboard? Then relax because we've got the solution for you. It's called Gridlock.

Gridlock is a new jailbreak application by developers Chpwn and P0sixNinja that lets you rearrange your icons any way you want them to be, simply by dragging and dropping them.

Will You Upgrade Your iPhone to iOS 4.1?

This week Apple will release the iOS version 4.1 for the iPhone. If our calculations are correct the newest version of the mobile operating system will be hitting iTunes on Wednesday, September 8th.

The last couple of updates from Apple haven't been anything to write home about. Version 4.0.1 simply addressed the algorithm while the antenna issue was flooding the news wire. After that, version 4.0.2 basically just patched up a security issue that Apple left exposed. As far as actual tangible features both refreshes were pretty dull at best...

Introducing the iPhone 5

Ok don't get too excited, this is obviously a fake. There is no such thing as the iPhone 5, at least for the time being. I came across this image by accident on Twitter, via Bizarro Comic.

I think it's pretty funny. My favorite features? The "pie on demand" and "get out of jail free".

Tweak Tracker Lets You Submit and Vote for iPhone Jailbreak Mods

Chpwn, one of my favorite jailbreak apps developers, came up with a brilliant idea to figure out what mods and jailbreak apps iPhone users want and need. It's called Tweak Tracker and it's dead simple.

Anyone can submit tweaks or apps ideas to the website. Then anyone can vote on those same ideas. The one that make it to the top obviously get more chances of being developed.

About the iPhone iOS 4.1 Jailbreak

The Dev Team recently confirmed there will not be a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 because iOS 4.1 is right around the corner and really, it would be a waste of time, but most importantly, a waste of exploit. This being said, I bet our favorite team of hackers is currently working hard on the iOS 4.1 beta release, trying to find a hole in there.

Former Stripper Wants Police to Hand Over Her iPhone and Naked Pictures

I love this story. A woman in Illinois is apparently furious at her local police department for confiscating her iPhone that houses multiple naked pictures of the former stripper. Her iPhone was seized as evidence relating to a criminal damage to property case that involved a car being keyed.

The now club owner, Bridget Polaski, is reported as saying the following to the Chicago Sun Times:

How Environmentally Safe is Your iPhone?

Apple is one of the most secretive companies you'll ever deal with. Even when they're about to release a product or report good news, they seem to have a vacuum seal applied to the lips of their employees. This seems to be the case with a piece of less desirable news regarding the eco-friendliness of the iPhone.

U.K. carrier, O2, showed off their "Green Rankings" which show the British consumers which phone hurts the environment least. Sony Ericsson and Nokia lead the way while the Palm Pre Plus bottomed out the ridiculous chart. Where did the iPhone rank? It didn't. Apple chose to keep the iPhone out of the research..

Jailbreak Mod Removes Folder Badges on Your iPhone

Have you ever been annoyed by the badges showing on the folders of your iPhone? Personally, it never bugged me but Chpwn, the developer of No Folder Badges must think otherwise.

No Folder Badges is a new tweak available in Cydia that does one single thing: removing the folder badges (ie. badges for available app updates, unread emails, etc...).
