ESPN rolls WatchESPN into its official app

Today is a big day for sports fans who like to keep up with sports scores, news, and even watch live games on the go. The live portion of ESPN's popular WatchESPN app, an app that has garnered millions of downloads and billions of minutes of live playtime, has been rolled into ESPN's main app.

In addition to the live streaming integration, ESPN's app now features 3D Touch support for the iPhone 6s, Spotlight Search support for iOS 9, and universal links so that ESPN.com links may open directly in the app itself.

Sports fans, rejoice: the freshly updated WatchESPN iOS app has been updated today with a cool new feature allowing for multitasking of sorts during live programming.

The all-new Live Toolbar in WatchESPN version 1.7 for iPhone and iPad lets you keep up with news, scores and on-demand video from your favorite sporting events while watching multiple videos at once.

That's right: if you ever wanted to follow game highlights while watching live ESPN programming, now you can. You can easily switch to live ESPN programming without exiting the video currently being watched, with video highlights becoming available at the conclusion of a live event...

Apple TV update enables WatchESPN, HBO GO, Sky News, Crunchyroll and Qello

Apple on Tuesday announced that users can now stream ESPN and HBO to their television through the $99 Apple TV set-top box. Available as a free software update for the second and third-generation Apple TV, the just-released Apple TV software version 5.3 enables the popular iOS apps, WatchESPN and HBO GO, on your Apple TV, as well as an additional three content providers, UK's Sky News, anime site Crunchyroll and music concert streaming service Qello...

AT&T U-verse subscribers can now access streams in WatchESPN, Fox Now iOS apps

If you're subscribed to AT&T's U-verse, are a sports fan and love Fox shows, good news here as the nation's second-largest carrier has cut deals allowing users of the WathESPN and Fox Now iOS apps to stream content and watch live feeds.

The latter app also added another provider for TV episodes, Suddenlink. U-verse subscribers should go download these updates to immediately gain access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU live feeds and such shows as Hell’s Kitchen and Family Guy, straight in these apps...
