october event

It’s official! Apple is holding an event on Thursday, October 27 on its Cupertino campus. On Wednesday afternoon the company sent out the above invitation to select members of the media, asking them to “join us for a special event.”

We’ve been expecting an October Apple event for several weeks now, and yesterday a Recode report accurately predicted it would happen on the 27. And as the invite indicates, the focus of the event is believed to be new Mac hardware.

But just what that new hardware could be is anyone’s guess. The redesigned MacBook Pro, with OLED touch bar and Touch ID, seems like safe bet, as does some sort of MacBook Air update. There has also been rumors of new hi-res displays.

Apple will be live-streaming the event, which kicks off at 10 a.m. (PDT) on October 27. As usual, we will be covering the event live here on iDB, as well as all subsequent announcements throughout the day.

Edit: oh like a one more thing? I thought the airpods was that, u never know though

      • Feivl

The Airpod are not a “one more thing, they have already been introduced! I meant a surprise regarding the specs os the Macbook Pro.

I meant like they were the “one more thing” for this year.” But I agree with you for there being a surprise on the MacBook Pro!

  • I was about to purchase a macbook pro but I am happy I took some time for research.

    Now this i can’t wait.

    My take on this:

The color use on the logo fading into perfect black might mean AMOLED which would be in the new keyboard. #illuminaticonfirmed

  • Since “Hello Again” has been used by Apple a few times in conjunction with iMacs I wonder if we are going to get a significant iMac refresh?

Is this a mac only event?

I think so the quote hello (again) is from mac when Steve jobs introduced the new iMac a while ago

Maybe also the release date for the Airpods? Maybe? Just guessing because of the “late October” release date

Not that I’m complaining about my current rMBP (which is the mid-range current rMBP with the AMD Radeon M9 M370X GPU), but I sure hope the upcoming rMBPs come with current high-end GPUs or ones that have just been released. Because as I’ve read, Apple computers usually come with outdate hardware, particularly in the GPU department. I wish Apple would take gaming (not the dumbed-down casual gaming) more seriously.
