Apple last evening posted on the official Beats 1 channel on YouTube a pair of new commercials which strive to explain in layman’s terms the allure of Apple Music’s $9.99 per month subscription tier. Both ads feature Atlanta rapper DJ Khaled and one of them has Khaled cruising through Malibu in a Rolls-Royce Phantom with the international super model Naomi Campbell behind the wheel.

“They don’t want me in a drop-top Phantom, driving up PCH with the beautiful icon Naomi Campbell,” he says. To this, Naomi responds, “So what you gonna do about it, DJ Khaled?”

I don’t want to spoil the ad entirely so give it a quick watch yourself.

DJ just debuted his new record “For Free” on Zane Lowes’ Beats 1 Radio show.

Another ad, titled ‘Nail Salon’, is even more amusing. Featuring actor Ray Liotta, the commercial ran during NBA finals.

What do you think about these new ads, which one do you like better and why?

  • What’s it with the click sound when they tap the screen in the ads? Why is it clicking if there’s no keyboard on the screen?

Must have iOS 10 Beta 2 already.

Love Apple Music, love each actor, actress and artist. But these ads here are garbage.

What’s confusing when I saw the DJ Khaled commercial is, isn’t he signed to Jay-Z who owns Tidal? Am I to assume Jay-Z was just building Tidal to sell it. I heard Samsung was a potential buyer, so maybe this is actually true.
