8.4.1. beta

A little over two weeks after the iOS 8.4.1 beta debuted, Apple has seeded the second iOS 8.4.1 beta to developers.

The previous iOS 8.4.1 beta contained no release notes, but many speculated that the update would contain the usual bug fixes, and perhaps even a fix for the exploits used in the iOS 8.4 jailbreak.

We’ll be sure to update you if there are any findings with regard to what the release contains. At this point, it’s still up in the air, but the minor release version indicates that it likely contains no new front-facing features.

iOS 8.4.1 beta 2 is billed as build 12H318, and can be downloaded as an OTA update for those running the first iOS 8.4.1 beta, and likely via Apple’s Developer center once it’s been updated.

What do you think iOS 8.4.1 contains? Do you think that the iOS 8.4 jailbreak is indeed a goner as some have speculated? At any rate, it’s probably a good idea to prepare for iOS 8.4.1 in advance.

Sound off in the comments below.

If this contains nothing new in the change logs then it’s most likely a patch for the TaiG exploits. I’m glad I took my iPhone 6 to the Apple Store the day before yesterday for a device swap, now I have a brand new device with a brand new battery, sadly it’s running iOS 8.4. I would’ve liked it to come with iOS 8.3 because I’m fond of the old/pre-iOS 8.4 Music app. But I suppose a brand new device was worth this trade-off. Jailbroke and installed Cydia Impactor the minute I got back home.

I hope it improves the Music app. With Apple music enabled, the app is almost unusable especially when browsing playlist or adding music to playlists. It’s super laggy and frustrating. For now I’m using spotify which is a shame because I’m wasting my 3 month free trial with Apple music.

    • ndcart

Weird. I don’t have any lag issues. Very fast on both of my devices.

    • regkilla

Wasting a 3 month FREE trial. Oh dear.

      • Alex

My point is I could be getting 3 months free music with Apple but instead I’m paying spotify because the Apple music app is so unusable.

I’m experiencing a different bug on the new Music app, but no lag. The issue I’m facing has to do with the alphabetical sorting of my music albums. For instance: I have a 2 CD album called “Vonyc Sessions 2009”, for some reason “Vonyc Sessions 2009 CD1” appears at the end of the “U” section and “Vonyc Sessions 2009 CD2” appears in the “V” section like it should. Some of my other albums do the same thing where an album that starts with letter “C” appears at the end of the “B” section and the other albums starting with “C” appear as they should in the “C” section. Do you understand what I mean? The alphabetical list sorting is buggy. Do you face a similar issue? Anyone?

NOTE: I have my music sorted by “Album” and the Album sorting is “by Title.”

8 beta what? We need ios 9 full running and a jailbreak running on ios9

  • Dante Arellano

Does some one knows why the power of apple still allowing the jailbreak cus apple could kill the jailbreak overnight i dont saying that i dont like the jailbreak just curious about it

    • Luke

Apple doesn’t hate jailbreakers, in fact it’s the opposite. They love the fact that people buy idevices just so they can jailbreak, so they give people some time to jailbreak before they patch the exploits. They patch exploits because of security reasons.

lol another month another IOS update,,,lol

  • When are they going to address the scrubbing in safari? Fine scrubbing no longer works

    • Mr_Coldharbour

Mind explaining this bug a bit more? I want to see if I’m experiencing the same issue.

      • When watching a video in safari you were able to hold the scrubber to move the position of the video and drag down to fine tune the scrubbing. That fine scrubbing no longer works even though the text is there saying it is.

      • Mr_Coldharbour

I’ll try that and report back.

        EDIT:
I just tried it and I’m getting severe jerkiness with the scrubbing and hence video playback whilst fine scrubbing. And it doesn’t seem to be “fine scrubbing” the video timeline. Definitely something I never noticed before iOS 8.4. Is that what you’re experiencing?

      • Yes, exactly. It doesn’t work well at all. Been like this since iOS 8

      • Mr_Coldharbour

I’m running iOS 9 public beta 2 on my test iPhone 4S. I’ll try it out there and let you know if it still persists.
