iOS 8.4.1 beta 1

Apple just seeded iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 to members of its developer program. Seeing that this release is a minor version release, there’s a good chance that it contains bug fixes, and perhaps even a fix for the exploits used in the iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4 jailbreaks.

While details are currently scarce about what the update contains—there are no release notes at this time—we’ll be sure to update you once we gather more info.

The iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 release comes in with a build number of 12H304, and is available for all devices capable of running iOS 8.4.

If you’re a jailbreaker, you’d be advised to stay away from this beta release, although you can almost certainly downgrade back to iOS 8.4 if the need happened to arise.

This update comes along at the same time as the OS X 10.10.5 beta for the Mac. You can find this update and the OS X update on the Apple Developer Center.

    Time to upgrade!

    • Manuel Molina

Oh, no! I upgraded to the beta because my sister plugged my iPhone in, clicked the iTunes application, hit the restore/update button, waited 30 mins for it to download onto the computer, and it updated my iPhone. Can I still jailbreak. 😀

        Maybe read the article first?
        Some keywords: Beta, to Developers.

        He’s being sarcastic..

      • Elias Chao

        Very sarcastic I’d say.

      • Manuel Molina

There’s another website I go on for jail breaking and tweak reviews outside of here, and we see those comments all the time. The amount of work it takes for you to accidentally update your device is not so accidental. Not to say it can’t happen, but it’s a stretch.

      • Manuel Molina

You get a golden star for understanding sarcasm. 🙂

      • regkilla

You must be fun at parties.

      • Mark S

You forgot either your or anchor tag….

      • Manuel Molina

I did put a smiley face as my defense 🙂

  • Newgunnerr

I wonder if it patches the jailbreak. Probably will.

    • Manuel Molina

I’m assuming it does. It seems weird for them to make an update for 8.4.1 unless there’s some huge bugs that need fixing that were not aware of.

      • Elias Chao

If there’s a jailbreak tool for it, it’s because there are some bugs.

      • iPhoneWINS

lol there will always be huge bugs so they can kill the JB

      • Manuel Molina

8.4 is a battery hog for me. I could be completely wrong, but I went to 8.3 because 8.4 made I 6 plus die in 4 hrs without usage

    • Dexter

It’s also possible they’re fixing Apple Music bugs but all of these theories are covered in the article.

  • o_O

Oh shiit, for some reason I felt like they wouldn’t bother because it’s so close to iOS 9. iOS 8.4 here I come….

  • NolesFan

JB exploit remover incoming! Better update to 8.4 before it’s too late!!

  • WolfgangHoltz

    8.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, 8.1, 8.1.1, 8.1.2, 8.1.3, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and now 8.4.1 Apple must have a record of the most incompetent idiots on iOS development apartment.

    • Jason Baroni

      Never satisfied

    • Would it make you happier if they only updated once a year with no supplemental updates?

      • WolfgangHoltz

It would make me more happier if the let me control my device myself. I have no problem if they fix bugs, but to not let me decide what version I decide to install is just ludicrous.

      • Does Apple have control over your device? That’s some conspiracy stuff right there.

      • WolfgangHoltz

If you not aware of that, I think you can work at Apple iOS development department, you will blend in just perfect.

  • I have a feeling it’ll patch the jailbreak.

  • Adrian

    RIP Taig 8.0-8.4 JB

  • Sceme

Downloading and upgrading to iOS 8.4 right now

  • Blip dude

Honestly, who didn’t see this coming?? I really wanted to take iOS 9 for a test drive and Restore to iOS 8.4 before final release. But yeah, that’s definitely not happening now. From the looks of it, looks ill be test driving OS X El Capitan instead. Let’s see if Pangu will release a JB for 8.4.1 because as far as I know, they were supposed to in charge of 8.3/8.4

  • arun

Bought Iphone 6 yesterday and it’s my first apple device.I am thinking to jailbreak my Iphone but i have heard that there is no data security after jailbreak,is this true?

    • There’s a risk but I could care less. I don’t have much valuable info to offer anyone.

  • iPhoneWINS

lol apple releases a new update every damn 3 weeks now,,, i just spent 3 hours updating form 8.1.2 and jailbreaking on my mAc with PP… there is a terrible back up corruption bug that i had to manual learn and fix lol… i will not be getting 8.4.1 i will be waiting for iOS9.2

  • Gabriel Anaya

This will probably patch TaiG’s jailbreak…

  • James G

8.4 is buggy for me. Hopefully 8.4.1 fixes some of it. Maps navigation has issues. Bluetooth has issues for me. Music has its own issues…hoping these get resolved.

  • diggitydang

Still on 8.3… Not really interested in Apple Music (yet) and I’m hearing people saying 8.4 can be really buggy (especially on a 6+, which is me)… Can anyone substantiate this? Should I update or stay?

    • M2

I haven’t had any issues. I’m on 8.4. I have a 6 plus paired with an apple watch. I only have tetherme and youtubed tweaks installed. Haven’t noticed any additional battery drain or crashes. I used the taig version. Since I have unlimited w sprint, I jailbroke mainly for the free tethering. Hope this helps.

  • Mark S

I think instead of saying, “If you’re a jailbreaker, you’d be advised to stay away” to, “If you’re a moron, like most jailbreakers are, you’d be advised to stay away”
