CancelUpdate Featured

Have you ever been in the middle of an app update and immediately had regrets about initiating the update? This could be for a variety of different reasons; perhaps an update removes a well-liked feature, or breaks part of the app in question. Well, with a new jailbreak tweak entitled CancelUpdate, you can cancel your app updates mid-flight. Have a look at our hands-on video inside to see how it functions.

To use CancelUpdate, place your device into wiggle mode by tapping and holding on any of the app icons on your Home screen. Once you do this, tap the ‘x’ in the upper left-hand corner of the app that’s currently being updated, and you’ll receive a pop-up notification prompting you to cancel the update.

Keep in mind that with some app updates you’ll have to be pretty quick on the draw. Other apps, depending on the nature of the update and the size of the download, seem to give you a lot of time to decide what you want to do.

Although its usage will likely be few and far between, CancelUpdate is a nice tweak to have available at your disposal should you need it. If you want it, head over to Cydia’s BigBoss repo where it can be downloaded free of charge. As always, be sure to let me know what you think about CancelUpdate in the comment section below.

What sucks the most is when you start an update on the road, and then find out your destination is a dead-zone mid-update.

  • Sub-part of Icon Tool; however, it does it in a more convenient way + it’s free….

It would be nice if there was an option to cancel all updates for those moments when I accidentally hit the button to update everything.

There is just a picture of an apple and a bar. Pushing the button doesn’t bring up the icons to be able to do anything. So I guess I’m stuck with an update that I didn’t mean to start because I’ve heard complaints.

When I follow these instructions and click on the x, it asks me if I want to delete the app. Not if I want to cancel the update
