This week, Jeff and Sebastien discuss WWDC, upcoming changes to iOS, and potential hardware announcements. They also talk about the possibility of iOS becoming increasingly open to developers. As always, the pair discusses this week’s jailbreak tweaks, including AltKeyboard, Activator, MiniPlayer 2.3, Auxo for iPad, and more. Also, don’t miss their discussion of the latest SemiRestore beta.

As a side note, we apologize for the substandard audio quality found in this week’s episode. Rest assured that it won’t happen again. Thank you for your patience.

I completely agree that there needs to be better app communication, that would make our lives much easier. I’m very confident Siri will get some great enhancements as well as the Notification Center. I feel that the Notification Center can be more than just a hub for notifications, there could be setting toggles there, widget type cards, and so on. The lock screen and home screen should be getting a flatter design or so I’ve heard, so hopefully Apple does something new and fresh with that. And let’s not forget about multitasking, which is absolutely imperative to iOS 7, especially since Auxo was released. There are other things that people want, and I’ll let their wish lists speak for themselves, because they have all great ideas. But Apple can only implement so much at one time. iCloud will be addressed, iMessage should be addressed, FaceTime should be addressed, and the stock apps should also be redesigned as well. I’m sure Apple has a couple other features we may not have thought of, but until Monday, it’s nothing but the waiting game.

This list is far from complete. And only dreams can dream that only a fraction will be addressed by AAPL.

How come the most praised mobile OS needs so much more to actually make it usable and be at real help for users on their devices?

      • Joseph A. Ahmad

I’m not going to list everyone’s wants and needs, that would be ridiculous. Like I said in my post above, there are several people out there with wishlists and concepts, go check them out.

      • mav3rick

You got it wrong. Your list is good and those are some basic features which “the most advanced mobile OS” is lacking. Only that iOS needs even more to be at users help.

      • Joseph A. Ahmad

Ah I see what you meant. You’re right, they should of been there from the beginning. But I won’t be greedy, I’ll just let Apple do their thing and see what formulates. I trust in Jon Ive exponentially more than Scott Forstall, that’s for sure.

    • Gorgonphone

IOS is so damn sucky that i will not upgrade my main devices until there is a jalbreak..

      • Joseph A. Ahmad

That’s good for you, really, but yea… not what I’m talking about.

  • mav3rick

Hold your horses. Nothing to talk about for 2 hours next week. Beside the “great innovation” of flat icons, there will be maybe one over pumped and over hyped so called “big feature” as it was Siri at its introduction and then it stayed Beta for 2 years and not at much help for users. For the real features to help users manage their devices, the will be nothing.
The main goal for iOS 7 is to differentiate from Scott Forstall stamped skeuomorphism design and create a so be called the new clean iOS look. With same old crippled functionality.

    • Gorgonphone

you are right… apple need to make siri2… with a new voice and all the functionality that one would expect for such a service in 2013.. but i know they won’t

    • Joseph A. Ahmad

I see you sat down and had lunch with Tim Cook. Thanks for the intel. Not. Maybe they’ll actually surprise you this time around.

Sebastian – for BiteSMS quick compose to work with activator, you have to enable a toggle in the BiteSMS settings app. BiteSMS->Settings->quick compose->use activator

  • Damian W

If Apple opens up iOS, it will open it to a similar extent as OSX. I would not really except theming.

I think everyone wants to see NCsettngs and QuickReply in next iOS.

    • Gorgonphone

i just want it to do more so that it can actually compete with android features a little bit more..

  • Gorgonphone

best pod cast so far guys.. great production good editing and conversation .. and Jeff thank you for getting your vocal inflection right at last… I was one of you biggest critics n the past but now you are getting my compliments.

best quote : “apple needs a snow leopard fro IOS” – Jeff

so damn true..IIOS needs help desperately its so old and stagnant that it actually pulls down the impact of new hardware releases…

  • Gustavo Adolfo Mirabal

Sebastien. What happened to your awkward quotes like “you don’t take a bus to the store with your friends” and the worst line ever.. “we should go to the beach and splash together” Was waiting for something like that was said but i was disappointed. its always great to listen to you guys.
