The NASA Artemis program is all about returning humans to the lunar surface by 2028 and making a permanent base on the Moon in the 2030s. The uncrewed Artemis I mission was the first step in November 2022. And now the Artemis II mission (launched on 1st April 2026) has four astronauts (Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency) on track to fly around the Moon. The mission crew, notably Reid Wiseman, has captured some amazing shots of our Earth, the Moon, and space. These pictures look terrific as iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other device wallpapers. Here’s how to download them in their original 4K or 8K quality.
Artemis II wallpapers
Most of the pictures you see here were taken with Nikon D5 or Nikon Z 9. NASA has published these photos on its official website (Journey to the Moon) as well as its Flickr account (NASA Johnson).
However, the images on NASA’s website are not of high quality, and many are cropped to 1920 x 1280px. Thankfully, I found the original quality (going up to 8256 x 5504px) on their Flickr account, and this is what I have embedded below. But still, I recommend you check out NASA’s website to view more images and read their photo descriptions.
Since these wallpapers are at their original resolution, a few can reach 6 MB to 14 MB in size, which can take a while to load. Open the “Download” button in a new tab, and that specific wallpaper should load faster.
Aside from the above wallpapers, you may have come across viral selfies of Reid Wiseman and Mission Specialist Christina Koch, taken with the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s front camera (free advertisement for Apple, yes!). They are near the window with the beautiful blue Earth outside in the frame. While not everyone may want to use these selfies as wallpaper, I have still included them for your viewing pleasure.
