  • Tom Canuck

In response to when/if devs should charge for upgrades. I think it also depends on /how/ it’s done. Sure the Intelliscreen X update costs money, but the old version is still downloadable for customers. I think if a paid update is put out, as long as the version people paid for is still available then it’s ok. The only time I’d disagree with a paid update if it was merely bug fixes, or if the developer intentionally left a bug, then put out a huge paid update, trying to force people to pay to upgrade even if only to fix a bug that annoys them

    • David Villamizar

What is annoying about the Intelliscreen X update is the lack of new features, it was done solely to add support for iPhone 5 and iOS 6. I understand the effort involved, but to make such an expensive update worth the money, they should have added new stuff. The update from the original Intelliscreen was more righteous than from iOS 5’s Intelliscreen X, it offered a bunch of new features there.

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

I’m with you on that for example the developers of TetherMe and Lockinfo have provided support for iOS 6 and iPhone 5 for free even though in the case of Lockinfo it has had such a massive overhaul…

    • GuyBey0ndC00L

If devs charge for updates / upgrades, that update or upgrade should add or come with tons of “NEW FEATURES” to justify the cost and not just tweaks.

  • Dylfo

You should make your app be able to play in the background so I can do other things while listening

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

The Apple Podcast app does this! Download it on your iPhone or iPad and open the RSS feed in Safari and it should automatically open in the podcasts app…

      • Dylfo

Didn’t it get taken off the podcast thing?

      • Smuys

        nope it’s still in there

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

Download the Podcasts app and click the “Subscribe via RSS feed” link in this article or indeed any other podcast article and it will automatically open in Apples Podcasts app to subscribe to and listen to. So in answer to the other persons question it did get taken off “the podcast thing” (by which I assume you mean podcast store) but is still viewable you just have to subscribe using the rss link rather than just searching for “Let’s Talk Jailbreak” in the podcast store…

      • We’re not on iTunes anymore but you still can subscribe to the podcast with Apple’s Podcasts app

  • Live Podcasts? Shoot that’s nothing, lets do a live “VIDEO” podcast……eh?

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

Video would be difficult since they aren’t in the same room as each other. AFAIK the entire podcast is done via a Skype recording and then edited together afterwards. Live podcasts wouldn’t be impossible but I think iDB should just stick with the system they’ve got for now just so Jeff and Sebastein get more experienced with the whole podcast thing, since I don’t think any of them have done any podcasting before. When they get better and better (which they have and will continue to do so) they could perhaps consider live podcasting then, assuming iDB has the resources to do such a thing.

That’s my opinion on the whole “Live podcasting” thing anyway 😉

  • Joseph

Is there any solution to listening to the stream in Firefox (other than using a different browser)?

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

      Listen in iTunes…

      • Joseph

Re-read. Other than using another browser. iTunes is a music browser! 😀

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

Then no there isn’t unless there is a plugin/add-on available for Firefox to enable mp3 (or whatever format the podcast is in – I haven’t checked) playback.

    No reviews on InfinityTask?

Background Manager auto launched my WhatsApp and cleared my conversation list…

    • Tom Canuck

i would have loved to hear a comparison of InfinityTask vs Background Manager to be honest …

      • Damian W

I checked both and infinitytask seems to be a better solution in a long run. Backround manager still has some serious bugs and on top of this will definately drain battery and take away RAM. Infinitytask on the other hand relies solely on ios multitasking simply extending the time of open apps while minimized.

      • Tom Canuck

        Excellent. Thank you

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

hmm I’ll have to check that out is Infinity task free?

      • Damian W

It is one or two bucks. Decent price for a great tweak. And the developer is talented too. Plenty of top tweaks with regular updates.

      • Kurt

Any reason why a dev can’t make another backgrounder tweak that runs an app in the background fully, without restrictions? I used it when necessary and closed the app when I was done. I want that control. I can’t be the only one, unless never versions of iOS somehow makes this impossible, though I doubt it.

      • Damian W

Background Manager gives you this ability. I am not sure if this is what you want. Background Manager gives you the ability to fully control the state of multitasking for each app separately or globally through iOS. The app is gonna always remain open and will never close on you.

The main problem I have with BM is that once i close the app by removing it from task switcher i can see it is still running in the processes. At the same time It also takes the ram. Removing the app from switcher does not really kill the app in this case. I hope this will be fixed soon, because this is a useless tweak to me for now.

      • Kurt

With backgrounder you were able to put an app in the state to fully run by holding down the home button and then disable it by doing the same while it’s open, on the screen. So background manager doesn’t have that option to disable the feature?

      • Damian W

BM lets you assign in options what type of multitasking each app should be in. There is also an option to run this multitasking at launch or not. I am guessing I can decide via activator if i want to enable backgrounding. I think this option might be the key to your question. I will install the tweak and see how it works.

      • Kurt

I’m installing BM now. Sounds really promising. I’m so thankful for YourTube to get rid of the ads (i recently found out youtube has ads-always had an adblocker on firefox so i never knew) and YourTube plays vids in the background. I’m excited about BM

      • Damian W

Did youtube got rid of the ads?

      • Kurt

        youRtube gets rid of ads

      • Damian W

Oh thats right, also ProTube and ProTube Extension. They all work the same

      • Kurt

Lots of great tweaks for youtube

      • Damian W

Just testing BM again and it does not pause my video or music they all play in background.

      • Kurt

Glad we have the option back!

      • Damian W

Have you had a chance to check Music Controls Pro?

      • Kurt

Never heard of it. But sounds good. My main reason for wanting true multitasking is for videos. So many times, I am watching a youtube vid and then I need to respond to an SMS or email and I want the video to keep playing. Or When on the subway, I want to listen to a video with the screen off. Thanksfully now I have the YouRTube tweak. I’ll check out Music Controls Pro since it works with other similar apps. Thanks for letting me know about the tweak. I just found Jeffs video on BM, so I’m sure this will help me get it running properly. I’m pretty excited to have these tweaks!

      • Damian W

Music Controls Pro has been around on Cydia for ages, but just few months ago the dev added option to background videos and apps. It works perfect for your needs. The only thins is it is very pricey. Great tweak with top quality. FOr me it is a must have on iOS

      • Gorgonphone

        yup its perfect

      • Damian W

BTW, Music Controls Pro already has an option for backgrounding the apps. Of course this options is more related to playing videos and music via particular apps. However it does work as a normal backgrounder.

      • Kurt

I’m having trouble getting background manager to keep a game running (just testing it out). the music pauses as well as the game. Ill check out youtube and see if there are some tutorials. Thanks for the heads up on background manager.

      • Damian W

You need to first enable it in the options. Did you do it?

      • Kurt

Yes, then I set background mode to “background”…I’m assuming Native would be apples pause feature. But the next group called “in background mode” seems, if i want it to fall back to Native then why would i use it. and force native mode doesnt make sense since I don’t want apples implementation of multitasking.

      • Kurt

I’m giving up. Maybe it doesn’t work on all apps. I had it configured correctly and it puts it in a state of suspension like Apple wants it to be. So that really sucks. I was hoping I had it configured wrong but unfortunately the tweak doesn’t work for that app. Ill try other apps now. 🙁

      • Damian W

In my case I got even Cydia multitasking. I can minimize and open it in a place where i left off. Works for me 100%. Make sure to enable Backgrounding globally. And then go to specific app setting (under “Each App)”and enable background for this app too.

      • Kurt

I have backgrounding globally on, but not for the specific app-isn’t that just doing it twice? I’ll try. So far not one app works with backgrounding globally on. I’ve tried Kingdom Rush, Super KO Boxing 2, Gangstar, Fight Night Champion, and a few other games 🙁 I’ll try rebooting. Cydia doesn’t go back to where i was exactly. only in the right section, but if I scroll down a bit, then exit and come back it shoots me back to the top. I’ll try putting backgrounding globally on and for the specific app after I reboot. Wish me luck! 😀

      • Kurt

great everything is working now! (the try before you buy version didn’t work) Paid version works like a charm. Very very very cool to have backgrounding once again!

      • Damian W

Keep an eye on some bugs. For example I have problems viewing notifications on lock screen. iMessages runs in background and checks them right away. Once I get notification on lockscreen, it disappears after a second. There is no badge or banner either.
However at other times it works just fine.

      • Kurt

Those are serious bugs. 🙁 Thanks Damian

      • Damian W

Unfortunately for me it is not showing iMessage notifications. I will just remove the tweak and wait for improvements.

      • Gorgonphone

dude is fine just use the force native option and it it e will send pushes..

      • Gorgonphone

yes the phone thinks the app is on the screen so puss notifications function differently just turn on some native options to still get pushes..

      • Gorgonphone

yes and i have mine set to global.. this tweak is extremely powerful on iphone 5 and ipad 4..

      • Gorgonphone

it works on all apps…. i have been waiting for this for months and have fully tested it on iphone5 and it does indeed gibe 100% backgrounding to all apps..

      • Gorgonphone

did you buy it??? 99% of the cracked versions don’t work properly… when you get the legit in make sure all the native options are turned off..

      • Gorgonphone

        BGM is better..

      • Gorgonphone

        yes it is great

      • Gorgonphone

infinity task is not backgrounding its a run time extender for paused apps… back grounder is much more powerful and has enough options to provide all the features of infinity task and more..

i am the most critical person on here an i am here to say the background manager works perfectly now..

  • Joseph A. Ahmad

I think an small update vs. a new version of a tweak is fair. Free for the update is understandable and charging a fee for a new version is also fair. Just my opinion.

    • Damian W

The thing is it is sometimes difficult to tell whats the new version and what is just an update. I think new versions are only when there are many visible changes. In terms of ISX 6, there is none.

      • Joseph A. Ahmad

Exactly. As Jeff said in the podcast, having rewrite the whole code for a new version and include several new features should warrant a fee. I’m a developer (and will be beta testing iOS 7 as I’ve done since iOS 4) so I know how it can feel to have things pirated and such, it makes you feel like crap. But for the smallest changes, you’re right, sometimes you feel good about helping people out and giving them free updates, or even making a free tweak all together. That can really brighten people’s days.

      • Gorgonphone

yup its the same exact tweak just updated to work on IOS6..lololooo it needs to be free until it does more things

    • Gorgonphone

if its a new reworked tweak then the name needs to be changed or update to indicate this dont try to charge me more money just cause now im on IOS6 and have an iPhone 5

  • iosPixel

@Lets Talk JB You guys say you don’t buy a tweak on the features it might one day have, yet without reviewer previews would you have purchased velox?

  • Marcus Brown

Is there a way to get mini player to auto hide on app launch?

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

When I was using Mini Player (I’m not right now but might re-install it) I set a show / hide event to the press of both volume buttons in activator as I found it very easy to press both buttons to show or hide the player. This may not be what you want but it’s just a suggestion 😉

  • Matthew

Which iPod touch? iPod 4 or 5?

    • Gorgonphone

5 duh its great the 4 is old and slow as hell.. o hand the 5 has much better sound quality

  • Guest

Why did you not keep it to let’s talk iOS?

    • mav3rick

      Because it is about jaibreak.

      • Gorgonphone

true and IOS is very very very boring without jailbreak..omg

  • mav3rick

Devs. can charge whatever they want if they want fast money and as long somebody is paying. Just look at 1Password, its devs. said that they are charging almost $20 because it works. But one app to manage passwords is nowhere worth $20. If dev. has a name and couple apps he is building he might want to keep his reputation and provide great updates for free.

    • Gorgonphone

yeah i didnt buy that one..

      • mav3rick

Nobody cares what you’re buying. You’re obviously doing some other kind of shoping around here.

  • PEOPLE HURRY UP GET PROTUBER FROM THE APP STORE BEST YOUTUBE CLIENT EVER EVEN BETTER THEN CYDIAS PROTUBE!

    • Gorgonphone

really um can i down load vids and extract audio and save to my iPod???

      • No you can download them on any quality you like and then save them on your camera roll
It works briliantly do hurry i bet its going to be removed

      • Gorgonphone

the damn thing is not free…lolooolooo

      • So isnt protube its value for money given the price of it. Get it from vshare or something

  • Arthur Geron

Hey jeff, please talk about Pheed for iOS! The new social network, a mix of facebook and twitter.

    • Gorgonphone

      umm no dont..

      • Arthur Geron

        why so?

  • Bob

I just fking pirate the paid jailbreak tweaks

    • Gorgonphone

uh oh dont say that … you can go t to hell for say6ing that around here..loloolol

  • Gorgonphone

YOUR POD CASTS ARE GETTING BETTER… Jeff sounds awake now and i like the little music at the intro.. hey maybe add like a prism break out sound effect like an explosion and some twisting metal to make it sound even more exciting and if you do it right wit can be you trade Mark intro…
