iPhone 6 concept (Ran Avni and Uygar Kaya 001)

Here’s another next-generation iPhone concept, one that envisions a number of features unlikely to make their way into the handset. That of course didn’t prevent designers Uygar Kaya and Ran Avni from dreaming up the ultimate water and dust-resistant smartphone with notification LEDs, a full HD 1,920-by-1,080 widescreen display, 13-megapixel camera, touch-sensitive volume rocker, wireless charging and front-facing stereo speakers – all encases in an ultra-slim aluminum shell…

And here’s a concept video.

I’m not sure about water and dust-resistance, but I sure as hell hope Apple will upgrade the iPhone’s display to full HD.

Yes, such a move would introduce a new resolutions for devs to target. On the other hand, Apple’s software development tools are now mature enough to make such transitions as painless as humanly possible.

Despite naysayers, I’m convinced a full HD iPhone is on Apple’s roadmap. Given the vast majority of today’s movies, television shows and other video content is encoded in 1080p. In that regard, a full HD iPhone would render such content natively, without rescaling.

As for wireless charging, I don’t care about it.

Apple wireless charging rumors are surely plentiful and the company has filed for a number of patents detailing new ways of charging iOS devices.

It’s not that the technology isn’t there – it is. But I just think wireless charging doesn’t really solve a problem as one still needs a wireless charging dock which has to be plugged into an electrical outlet.

I’m pretty convinced the next iPhone will make major strides in the camera department and most checks give us reasons to believe the iPhone 5S will sport an upgraded, 13-megapixel camera with improved night shooting.

As for notification LEDs, that’s one feature Apple won’t build – unfortunately, because I would love being able to see if new alerts have arrived just by glancing at my handset briefly.

What next-gen iPhone features are you looking forward the most?

  • Boss

Ugly and I’m a fan of the back from the iP5

  • Notification LED would be great! But I don’t think Apple will put it on the iPhone, sadly.

    • Notification LED would be a kind of ancient to me since my 10 years old thinkpad has this functionality from the 1st day.

      • Falk M.

My 1995 laptop had a screen.
I think that’s even more ancient and we should move on and remove screens from devices.

    • You can make the torch flash when you have a notification which is kind of the same thing however it does not stay on…

      • Falk M.

it kind of isn’t, because it’s so damn bright that it gave me the creeps whenever something came in.

        Literally, it shocked me haha.
And I don’t know why, because the LED is dimmable, yet the LED goes off at full brightness.
        Thanks Apple.

What’d really be awesome would be to make it a pulsing light like with older iMacs (e.g.: 06 models) that had the white indicator light flashing similar to a breathing sequence.
The reason was that humans perceive this pattern as natural, easy on the eyes and soothing.
That pattern won’t come as indicator for notifications, because it has been used to signalize the standby mode on Macs already, which could confuse some people, but sure as hell something like this would be nice to have.

  • Cosmi3

    LED!! No way man

  • I love how the new iPhone comes with cydia preinstalled

    • ibem

  • How exactly does wireless charging work?

  • onebyone_

    • NjC

  • rain111

I am sorry, anyone else here think that is just pure ugliness? other concept were by far better, this is very badly gone wrong plastic surgery off HTC ugly speakers/mic with Lumia’s boring style.

  • bigzjoseph

That phone in this picture doesn’t stand for what the iPohnes stands for

  • mrweid

Ugly, not a fan of black color on iPhone. It also looks like it could easily be bended. Also way freaking slim and long.

  • Gorgonphone

lol it looks like a phone with ha permanent case around it = bad design

  • in order for the nXt Generation to impress me, it has to look as gorgeous as the Xperia Z which i now happily own..
i still have my 4S..held the 5 for about 24 hours then traded it for the Z..
i sincerely HOPE the nXt iPhone is a radical change *or somehow looking more like a shrunken iPad Mini* until then, i’ll stick to my lovely 4S & my Z

  • Everyone just needs to stop making these hardware concepts, seriously. It’s different from creating software concepts that even freelance developers can ultimately replicate and distribute.
Just… stop. No offense, I just don’t find any of these useful at all. I don’t even look at the image, I just skipped it (and yes, I skipped the whole thing just to post this comment, I have time for that!). 🙂

  • Do think finally apple break the stupid update of “s” and just jump to iphone 6???

  • batongxue

  • Whatever

    only concept, never happen.

  • Beck Hoefling

I’d rather have a super tough iPhone I can use without a case, than a water proof iPhone

  • Dylfo

    I want wireless charging bad
