ColoredKnob is a perfect example of the adage that simplicity = generally awesome. Placing a colored slide to unlock nub on an otherwise overcast iOS lock screen looks incredible, as you’ll no doubt agree from our photos and video.

As most of you know, I pride myself in maintaining the stock iOS water droplets wallpaper, which isn’t the most interesting piece of work on the block, in fact it’s quite snore-worthy.

That’s why I like this tweak so much; add it to the stock wallpaper, and bam, it’s a whole new work of art.

Don’t believe me? See for yourselves…

ColoredKnob contains 3 basic customization options: Green, red, and grey. Considering that grey is the default knob color, there are really just two custom options. It’s a shame that the color options are so limited, but hopefully the developer is saving more color options, or perhaps RGB sliders, for a future update.

If you’re interested and running a jailbroken version of iOS 5.x, head over the BigBoss repo where you can download ColoredKnob for free.

How do you like it?

An opaque 1 would be better but I personally think the red and green look pants .. The worst thing about iPhones for me is the UI, green and grey as a standard for almost everything is awful imo, the black and white on Android is way more appealing but that’s just my view.

    • best looking UI is webOS. iOS is just too plan and boring. far too much light gray. But it will never change. look at the scroll bar in OSX the blue/light blue stripes. that has been there for more than 10 years. that’s sickening :-Þ

      • What’s sickening is that you started your comment with “best looking UI is webOS”

Yeah that’s your opinon, but I happen to like the way the iphone looks………….However you can change the interface of an iPhone to be virtually identical to pretty much any other OS……Android, WinPhone7,HTC, etc……………….You can basically change any UI image that you want to change…………………

    No

    BLUE

  • Again, it should be ever-changing rainbow!!!! 😛

  • I hope a combination of Red,Yellow and Green would be awesome!

These colours have been added on the new update.

  • Ah man, if blue was an option I’d be downloading it right now.

    • Agreed

Well now you can because Blue is included on the new update 🙂

  • I just wished there were more colors to choose from…say, a color palette wherein you can slide your finger to which ever color you would like the color to be (from lightest to the deepest red, green, etc.)

  • I love tweeks that are build right into the settings instead of using winterboard. i find that installing and using winterboard themes slows everything down and make it a bit laggy and glitchy too.. thats why i havent downloaded it this time around. SO tweeks like this are awesome.. ps. i also love the off and on enabler so i can simply turn it off if i want instead of hasseling myself with cydia removals

Yeah……………….Thats your opinion…………….WinterBoard has not slowed my phone down since iOS 4.lol…………It’s not exactly WintreBoard that slows your phone down…………………It’s the poorly designed themes……………Believe it or not I have installed themes that have made my phone faster, smoother and more responsive (I know…weird)………………As it turns out…….I didnt really like the themes that much…………..I think they were Absolution and AfterMath HD……………But not sure

  • A bowling ball with some pins on the other end would be cool to. 2 colors?? How bout a color wheel.

  • hope he releases more Colors! i cant wait! 🙂

  • Anonymous

lol these are just the stock images for the sliders for power off, and answer call XD

  • hoping for custom colors in future updates!

  • Anonymous

Random Option would be really cool.

  • I changed my knob without this. I made it red and changed the text to “slide to turn off”. 😛

  • This tweak doesn’t change the actual color of your slider. It simply uses mobile substrate to change the slider from default (gray) to call answer (green) or power (red). That why there isn’t a color wheel or more options to choose from.

    • Yeah, that didn’t really hit me until after I published this article. Then it dawned on me as to why the 2 color palate was there. 🙂 Feel a bit slow tonight.

      • no worries, i see the app has been updated since then and regardless its great that you post on random not so known Cydia tweaks to share with everyone. Keep it up buddy! 🙂

  • Been waiting for this a longgggggg time.

    • Anonymous

Well…………You could have done this yourself with iFile or ssh……..Since …………………..Well……………..The beginning of jailbreaking……………….Even without WinterBoard…………….

  • bug:disables my headsets play/pause ability, though volume +/- still works

  • got it nice tweak just the color options are limited for now hopefully those will be increased.

  • It would be good if you could choose any color

  • I would go for the apple slider which looks amazing and can be downloaded free from cydia. This is just ugly and pointless

Hey. Is it possible to make your own slider in photoshop, and then put it into this tweak?.. I done it with winterboard but it could be cool if you could get it into this tweak. 🙂

    • Anonymous

I am not sure But I dont think so…….I dont think so becuase this tweak simply uses the default bottombarknobgray/red/green images…………………So it only uses the defualt sliders…….Not custom ones……..They are just switched……dats all

Green and red???? Seriously………..Anyone can do that…..without installing a tweak…………you could just ssh or use iFile…..I guess iFile is till something you have to install, BUT it offers much more……………But seriously? Green and red………….How about some black, blue, orange, yellow, purple………….I mean…make it something worth installing…………I mean if there is a way to do something without installing another package then I try to do just that…………I for one would really like a black slider………..And I can get one via a WinterBoard package called “Epic Sliders” but the black slider does not look very retina…………It looks SD even tho it’s an 2@x image…………I hope he adds more colors…………….Til then i dont see why I would install another mobile substrate addon for something I can do with iFile and WinterBoard…………which are packages that are actually worth having givin the versatility they offer.
