In addition to all of the software announcements made today, Apple also introduced new colorways for its line of Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases. The summer-themed shades are Peach, Sky Blue and Marine Green, and you can find them in the silicone Apple Watch Sport Bands, as well as the silicone cases for the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X.
Here’s a look back at the WWDC 2018. Included here are first looks at iOS 12, watchOS 5, tvOS 12, and macOS Mojave. What was your favorite new feature to come out of the event?
Among the new features introduced in iOS 12 are some new gestures for iPad. It wasn't mentioned on stage (at least we don't recall seeing it), but Apple is bringing iPhone X-esque gestures to its tablet with the latest iOS update.
As with all of Apple's major software updates, macOS Mojave includes a number of privacy and security enhancements. Among them is a new feature called Intelligent Tracking Prevention, which essentially makes it more difficult for data companies to track users.
Addressing a long-standing question of potentially merging the iPhone, iPad and Mac operating systems into one with a “no,” Apple did provide a sneak peek at upcoming new frameworks designed to help developers port their iOS apps over to the Mac without too much fuss.
Apple unveiled a new Mac App Store in macOS Mojave. The update, the first for the MAS since it was first launched, should be more useful to use. A lot of the features are coming over from the iOS App Store.
The new store offers a Ratings and Reviews API for Mac apps. There's also a Create tab, as well as video previews. Apple also announced that Microsoft Office 360 would be coming to the MAS this year.
In addition to the various new features and improvements introduced in macOS Mojave, Apple is also using the update to bring a bunch of its stock apps to the Mac. This includes Apple News, Stocks, Voice Memos, and the Home app.
Aside from sharing a bunch of exciting new features designed for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, Apple during today's WWDC 2018 keynote talk also spent some time talking about the latest Apple TV features afforded by the upcoming tvOS 12 software.
At WWDC 2018, Apple revealed the next version of macOS. Called Mojave, macOS 10.14 includes a number of new features including a dark mode.
The dark mode affects everything with the OS. Better still, the desktop can change throughout the day automatically.
With Desktop Stacks, there's a new way to declutter a desktop. There's also a Quick Actions feature in Finder and the ability to see full metadata. These Quick Actions are customizable.
Quick Look also includes all-new Markup tools. Screenshots have also been improved in macOS Mojave.
A new Continuity Camera feature was also demoed that allows you to bring images from iPhone to a Mac app without saving the file first.
The Apple News app is also arriving on Mac. Voice Memos are also arriving this fall.
On the security front, Apple's bringing new protections to Mac. This includes the ability to limit location tracking to specific apps. Safari includes new security tools too.
Apple's Kevin Lynch is on stage at the WWDC 2018 keynote and he's just announced watchOS 5, the next major operating system version for Apple Watch. The update brings about a wide range of new features and improvements, including Competitions, new Workout types, and a new app called Walkie-Talkie.
iOS 12's digital well-being features came to light at Worldwide Developers Conference, where Apple just unveiled a new set of comprehensive built-in tools to help iPhone and iPad customers limit distraction and understand how they're spending time with their devices.
For devices that support it, iOS 12 will include new Animoji features and Memoji, a customizable Animoji character similar to Bitmoji and Nintendo Mii. Among the new Animoji features are tongue detection, which will allow you to make the tongues of your Animoji characters stick their tongues out, as well as new characters like Ghost, Koala, Tiger and T-Rex.
